The problem there is it’s essentially EOL and receiving few if any updates. Which is a big security and UX issue. The company is focused on their SDK and has publicly acknowledged they don’t know what they’ll do with the app and may sunset it altogether. Love Roy and the Breez app, but just important people know this.

Bitcoin question - breeze wallet

I have sent sats from breeze to a bitcoin address. I selected a low free but want to now use rbf to get my transaction in a block. How do you do rbf in Breez?

The transaction uses rbf, I’ve checked on mempool.space

One thing thats a bit annoying with breez is you only show the sats amount on confirmaition screen. Would be really helpful to also see fiat amount so one can double check. Useful if merchant uses keypad to enter fiat amount, but also useful in other cases imo.

Díky, je to užitečná recenze. Breez vypadá, jako moderní použitelná peněženka. Zkusil jsem ji nainstalovat, první dojem je pozitivní.

Nelíbí se mi jen koncept "super-apps", na který jsem asi příliš staromódní. V podání Breez jde pouze o linky na webovky několika LN služeb, jako například Bitrefill, LNmarkets, FixedFloat, Boltz nebo Azte.co. Prvním zklamáním je fakt, že některé linky odkazují na neexistující stránky. Druhým předpokládám bude chybějící integrace, tedy nutnost kopírovat LN Invoice ze stránky do peněženky. Uvidím, časem ověřím.

I don’t know shit about mobile dev but is that allowed today? E.g. Breez wallet will complain in a notification to you if you don’t open the app within 24 or 48 hours, asking you to open the app to sync to the tip of the chain etc.

Ahh I do like Breez but have had many routing issues for years with them. Great team, great product, wish I could add my own node though

I don’t view Breez as self custodial. They appear to manage liquidity by being a “man in the middle” for payments. It seems like they don’t custody payments for very long, but for a brief period they take possession of your funds.

I think it’s great that they do so because self-custodial Lightning is difficult to manage. I just don’t think they should say they are self-custodial when they aren’t 100% self-custodial.

I maintain that we’re moving now into a custodial world for most people. We’ll need to limit the custodial touch points and risks through smart technology (like Breez) and geo-distributed federations.

iOS. Is there any way to speed up the syncing process?

Seriously though, my experiences running Breez have also been frustrating. The syncing takes so long and if my phone goes to sleep or I put the app into the background it stops. I could never make it work for me, so I ended up using other Lightning wallets.
