Addressing legitimate criticisms by leveling counter-accusations of misogyny/racism/anti-Semitism/transphobia is a nearly 100% tendency in the “anti-disinformation” world.

Great point by @lwoodhouse (https://nitter.moomoo.me/lwoodhouse):

In the #TwitterFiles (https://nitter.moomoo.me/search?q=%23TwitterFiles) we saw accounts actioned/denylisted for using aliases. Here the BBC boasts about using fake accounts to fight fakeness, or something.

“We use these kinds of undercover accounts… to be able to really understand polarization.”

It’s still amazing that 44% of Americans believe the Steele dossier is a “true story.” It’s a religion.

Is this how you go about your scholarship? You start with the quotes you want, then go looking for people who'll say the desired thing?

Fantastic methodology.

New episode of “America This Week” w @walterkirn (https://nitter.moomoo.me/walterkirn) explains why a totally compromised media landscape means it’s finally time for a repeat of Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out: racket.news/p/episode-37-ame… (https://www.racket.news/p/episode-37-america-this-week-with?utm_source=twitter&sd=pf)

Let’s say you’re right that no one cares. Is that a good thing? The “Pentagon Papers Principle” isn’t worth caring about?

By that standard you should strike down any factual news story that a third party misinterprets. Which is absurd. The DNC leaks and the laptop story were factual. There was no basis for restricting them.

Neither episode involved “disinfo.” Both stories were true - so to avoid the old ethics that said we had to at least acknowledge these stories, they invented a new approach that put “provenance front and center.” (And even misrepresented that).

Attendees of the "Burisma Leak" exercise in summer 2020 - including @nytimes (https://nitter.moomoo.me/nytimes) and @washingtonpost (https://nitter.moomoo.me/washingtonpost) \- embraced radical change: "Break the 'Pentagon Papers' principle" emphasizing authenticity and newsworthiness, focusing on "provenance" and "restraint" instead. The U.S. unfortunately has no standing to lecture anyone about treatment of the press now because of its continued prosecution of the Assange case.
