You can press up-arrow or down-arrow to walk through a list of previous commands in most modern shells like bash, tcsh, fish, zsh and others in #Linux/#FreeBSD /#macOS/#Unix. Another option is to hit CTRL+R & type the command to recall. See:

help history

man bash

man fish

man zsh

NCSA Mosaic (web browser - 1993–1997) running on #Unix #history

I'm not entirely sure. It's hard to know what OpenAI and Google are working on in private. IBM is also heavily invested in AI research. However, I don't believe that AI is currently advanced enough to write a kernel, backport security, or develop an operating system features.

I received a private message from someone who inquired if the recent Red Hat announcement is another example of AI causing restrictions. I don't think so. The current AI is limited to generating code, text, images, and video from existing sources. AI cannot write kernels & RHEL.

They provide training and support as long as you buy the contract. Otherwise, Debian, Ubuntu, and others are good for anyone.

This move will impact Oracle, Rocy, Alma, and any other distro using RHEL source code to build their operating system.

Wow. Red Hat cutting back RHEL source availability: CentOS Stream will now be the sole repository for public RHEL-related source code releases. For Red Hat customers and partners, source code will remain available via the Red Hat Customer Portal. https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/furthering-evolution-centos-stream What do you think? #linux #opensource
