Her fellow pro-migrant confesses she is “ashamed to be British”. Yet both insist that the world’s refugees should come here. The UK is a racist hell-hole – and must be open to all.
A transgender doctor has been accused at an employment tribunal of “role playing” as a woman by using a female changing room. Dr Beth Upton and NHS Fife health board have been taken to the tribunal by Sandie Peggie, who has worked as a nurse at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for 30 years and was suspended following an incident in the women’s changing rooms at the hospital on Christmas Eve 2023. Peggie lodged a complaint of sexual harassment or harassment related to a protected belief under Section 26 of the Equality Act 2010 regarding three incidents that occurred when she shared a changing room with Upton. Her complaint was made after she was suspended in January last year over an allegation of bullying and harassment lodged by Upton. Naomi Cunningham, representing Peggie at the tribunal in Dundee, accused Upton during Tuesday’s hearing of “immersive role play”.
Discussing one incident, Cunningham said: “What Sandie Peggie has done by withdrawing from [the] changing room when you were there is opted out of immersive role play. That’s why you [Upton] were angry with her.”
She added: “I want to suggest that the reason it’s not acceptable to you for one colleague to opt out, is the danger that one voice telling the truth will break its spell. It’s like the child in the emperor’s new clothes. That one voice saying you’re a man will break the spell.”

We’re now into the second week of the Sandie Peggie tribunal and it’s turning out to be a game-changing case. But the struggle over media coverage started before the hearing began last Monday.
An attempt by NHS Fife to hold it in private was defeated. An appeal for Peggie and her lawyers to be allowed - allowed! - to use accurate-sex pronouns was granted. Crucially, the citizen journalism service Tribunal Tweets was allowed to live post proceedings.

The silver penny from Norfolk was struck for Guthrum, an East Anglian king who came from Denmark. It bears his baptismal name of Athelstan, and is the first silver coin to be minted by a Viking ruler in Britain.
Such finds fall under the Treasure Act, which compels finders to disclose any discoveries to the local coroner. If the find is treasure, the finder will be remunerated but the item reverts to the Crown which makes it available to museums.
The recent boom in detectorists has led to a change in the law. Whereas previously an item had to be at least 300 years old, that limit is now 200 years, to include more of the items being discovered. The treasure legislation and the PAS are dependent on the honesty of the people who make the finds, and also their vigilance. One example from this year is a Bronze Age hoard from Urchfont in Wiltshire, which included an extremely rare anvil. Experts say it could have been mistaken for modern equipment, but the detectorist reported it immediately which allowed British Museum excavators to do a proper examination.

Children who identify as animals and walk on all fours should be shown “empathy”, according to guidance funded by the Home Office. The Children’s Society, a child abuse prevention charity, produced a guide to assess the risk of online exploitation among children who identify as transgender or non-binary, as well as “subcultures” including “furries” and “therians”. “Furries” are described as people interested in media featuring walking and talking animals. The charity said that nearly one in eight furries also self-identify as transgender and non-binary, more than 20 times higher than those not identifying as furries.
The guidance comes as the prime minister appointed Ashley Dalton as health minister to replace Andrew Gwynne after he was sacked over racist and sexist comments. Dalton faced criticism last year after MailOnline reported that she believed people should be able to self-identify as llamas if they wished. When asked on X whether someone should be taken seriously if they decided they were a llama, she reportedly replied: “Yes. And treat you with dignity and respect.”
The guidance was produced under the Children’s Society’s prevention programme, commissioned and funded by the Home Office. Public servants were warned that it “is absolutely vital that you use the right pronouns”, but the guidance admitted “there are so many pronouns that we cannot capture a full reflection of them in this document”.

Five men arrested after woman 'raped in property overnight' as urgent probe launched after 'horrific' attack
Five men have been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman in her twenties reported being attacked at a property in Brighton.
The incident took place overnight at an address in Montpelier Place, with the victim contacting Sussex Police on Sunday morning.
The suspects, aged 38, 32, 32, 26 and 26, remain in police custody while investigations continue.

Police have launched a manhunt after a woman was raped in broad daylight by two men at a nature reserve.
The horror assault took place at 8am on Monday in Alcott Woods, off Moorend Avenue in Chelmsley Wood near Solihull.
The victim, who has not been identified, is currently being supported by specially trained officers.
The beauty spot, which is situated just north of Birmingham Airport, has today been cordoned off.
Forensic officers, wearing white overalls and carrying evidence bags, have been seen taking pictures at the area where double rape is alleged to have taken place.
