do you like doechii?

is it time to back up the truck?

first weekend trying to fix it. spent about 10 hours between other things. still not fixed. some notes from the process:

- just unplugged the rPi to shut it down because the umbrel browser page was no longer accessible and I was too lazy to SSH in, not sure if this messed something up

- bought 4TB crucial x9 pro to replace 1TB drive. New drive has USB-c connection and old one had SATA, not sure if this matters

- when i plugged in the external drives to my other computer, 4 new random volumes just showed up and i’m not sure from where or if they are important

- spent the most time trying to figure out the best way to clone the drive. started by changing the format of the new 4TB drive from exFAT to ext4. then used cp command (cuz that’s the only one i knew off the top of my head) to just try and copy all the files from one to the other but it couldnt read like 3/4ths of the files. Also my monitor just decided to stop working in the middle of this so I had to get a new one. tried a few different things but then ended up using balena etcher because it seemed the most simple, but i’m not even sure if it’s the appropriate tool. The copy took about 6 hours (probably on suboptimal transfer speeds) so i let it run overnight

- my umbrel software was old so in the process i flashed a microSD with the new 1.x update (maybe should have just changed one thing at a time)

- hooked up the new SSD and new microSD to the rPi and plugged it in. couldn’t get on to the browser page initially so hooked up the monitor and it looked like everything was booting correctly, but still couldn’t access. rebooted with old SSD but that didn’t work either. tried booting with a fresh SSD and that worked, but would be nice to not have to start from scratch

Summarizing thoughts:

- there’s probably a much easier way to do this and i’m just a noob. and i’m probably breaking things by not knowing what i am doing. i might end up reaching out to the umbrel team for help

- i guess i could always just wipe the 4TB drive and re-do the IBD. The only thing that really matters is my wallet info and lightning channel backups which i’m pretty sure are intact

- will try to pick up where i left off next weekend

node is down, can’t zap

of course this may just be all bullshit, but the fact that it is even being said at all is huge imo
