Which #Bitcoin spot ETF is the best?

I'm going to fire $GBTC today

I appreciate:

1) all the crypto bros who panicked back in 2023 and let me buy at an almost 50% discount.

2) @Grayscale for suing and winning against the corrupt @SECGov

I don't appreciate:

3) the egregious management fee! 1.5%?!?! WTF?!?

Size Matters edition!

Blackrock $IBIT and Fidelity $FBTC are the biggest of the new ones. Followed closely by Ark/21 $ARKB and Bitwise $BITB

$GBTC is the largest but shrinking quickly (see above)

The rest of the new ones are much smaller.

Fees Matters edition!

Bitwise $BITB has the lowest of the new ones. Followed closely by Ark/21 $ARKB and VanEck $HODL

Some have temporary waivers on fees (that differ from this list) which make this analysis a bit more complicated.

Giving Back edition!

Bitwise $BITB and VanEck $HODL have both stated they will donate a percentage of profits for the first 10 years to Bitcoin open-source development (via third parties).

$BITB has gathered decent AUM already.

Custodian Diversity edition!

Fidelity $FBTC does their own self custody šŸ’ŖšŸ‘

VanEck $HODL uses @Gemini

If diversifying your custodian is important these are good options.

The majority of the new spot ETFs use @coinbase

Deano's Picks!

I'm selling all of my $GBTC They used to be the only game in town but better options now exist.

I'm going to split between (force ranked):

Bitwise $BITB

Fidelity $FBTC

Ark/21 $ARKB

VanEck $HODL

Paddle Boating Indian Mountain State Park (Jellico, TN)

We finished up our fall break at Indian Mountain State Park (in Jellico, TN). We covered a lot of ground on our trip so we relaxed around this state park to end the trip. We did a quick hike, a paddle boat race with Max and Arden, a delicious dinner (pies/cakes), and then back around the campfire to fight off the cold while watching Max and Arden's UT Vols play (boo RTR!).

Kayaking and Biking At Cove Lake State Park (Caryville, TN)

We explored Cove Lake State Park on bikes and in kayaks. Both were fun. They have a paved bike path that makes for enjoyable pedaling. We'd have kayaked much longer if the weather had been a little better. It was a great lake for kayaking (a big lake and no big boats).

Exploring Norris Dam State Park (Rocky Top, TN)

We used Norris Dam State Park as our home base to explore the surrounding area. They have two campgrounds (east side vs. west side) and I chose the bad one when I booked it [sad face emoji]. Regardless, we explored the park and got some hiking in. We also got to relax with Preston (and a skunk) around the campfire. NOTE: We were near Rocky Top, TN, and visited Max at UTK. I've had enough Vols/Orange for now...ROLL TIDE ROLL!

As I think about the impact of the coming #BitcoinETFs here are some numbers.

1) #Gold ETF penetration

2) #Bitcoin EXISTING supply (#HODL and On Exchange Balances)

3) #Bitcoin NEW supply (which halves in April '24)

Interesting to contemplate what may happen if/when approved.

The last time an existing 'asset class' became ETF eligible (November 2004) the price of #Gold AND assets under management within those ETFs both went up...A LOT.

Could #Bitcoin experience something similar as an entirely new investor class can now allocate to it easily?

Number go up good. nostr:note1wten8tvvyvnyxafd54scygrw9zx3vf6tyg6fkclq2hnjt5s0pcfqlku6d0

How I Got Healthy

13 years ago, I was headed down a dark path and knew I needed to make changes. A picture is worth a thousand words. I can SEE I am healthier (and I FEEL better). I dove in and did a bunch of bloodwork to make sure I wasn’t fooling myself. The bloodwork is very nerdy (my favorite) but gave me proof that I am healthier.

When I started 13 years ago, I didn’t have a clue! I was not a ā€˜fitness’ person. I was very sedentary. I tried doing all kinds of things to do better. I wasted a lot of time doing REALLY stupid things. Looking back, I now realize the first 9 years were fully wasted. I was improving but still not thriving. I was frustrated with all the information I’d read about various topics. I’m a rule follower and said many times ā€œI just want someone to tell me what to do and I’ll do it.ā€ That was the problem, there are lots of people telling you what to do (and most of it contradicts).

Over the past few years, I made much better progress but still didn’t have it all nailed down. During 2023 I have dialed in everything and made excellent progress on all fronts. After 13 years of trying all kinds of things, I FINALLY feel like I’m on the right path. It has been VERY frustrating at times. I’m tweaking a few small things for 2024. But I’m on a path where I’m thriving. At 51, I am the strongest and healthiest I have ever been in my life. I’ll share what I’ve learned here. Maybe it will help you (or at least give you food for thought). I’m still learning, but I feel like I’m in the best position I’ve EVER been in.

Emily's Mushrooms @ Big South Fork #mushrooms

Emily took lots of mushroom pictures on our hikes in Big South Fork (on trails to Twin Arches, Slave Falls, and Needle Arch). And most with two broken toes! That's dedication!

Music City Bikeway REDUX (Nashville Tennessee's Best Bike Ride)

The last time I did this ride (with Preston) I was untrained and "bulking" and surrendered a few miles from the finish line. I recently tried it again. REDUX! I was still untrained but I'd dropped about 20 pounds. I finished it with ease. Then, recently, I did it again with Max (his first time). REDUX, REDUX! Such a fun ride!

Hiking Big South Fork - Twin Arches, Needle Arch and Slave Falls

We loved hiking all around Big South Fork. We spent a day at Twin Arches. They were enormous! I can't believe these are in Tennessee. I was arch-struck! So many 'that's what she said' jokes! After Emily broke her toes on the first hike, she wanted to persevere and finish the day's 2nd hike. We tried to beat a nasty storm to reach Needle Arch and Slave Falls. The trail into Slave Falls was spectacular. Big South Fork was definitely a favorite of ours!

Awesome Hiking at Honey Creek Loop Trail and Overlook (in Big South Fork Nat'l River and Rec Area)

Best. Hike. Of. The. Year. Honey Creek Loop Trail (in Big South Fork) was only listed as 4.2 miles. Regardless, it took us almost 5 hours because 1) there was so much to see along the way, 2) the hiking was very hard/technical, 3) the trail was very hard to follow, and 4) a lot of the trail was in a slippery creekbed (I landed flat on my back once along the way). That might sound bad, but it was all part of an awesome experience. This was our best hike of the year without question! This might be my favorite hike in Tennessee outside the Smoky Mountains. This will also probably be my favorite video of the year.
