A gadfly with a point of view. Writing about the questions of life involving theology, science, and apologetics to inspire thought. Interested in the surprising and the inspiring world.

SOCIALISM IS BASED ON NOBLE IDEAS; EQUALITY, FAIRNESS, AND JUSTICE

However, socialism has a fundamental flaw. It is assumed that the system will be administered with ideal morality. This is a quality that no human possesses. We all have lied, cheated to get ahead and oppressed others for gain. Man has innumerable other evils engrained into his being.

When you place healthcare, ability to earn a living, or freedom under the sole authority of elected, appointed, anointed, or simply the strongest; you are inviting that evil to take root. This is because you are using the moral foundation of man to rectify the injustice of other men. Equality, fairness and justice can only be administered when you have a standard of morality that is apart and sovereign over man. A standard that is morally perfect, that position is solely occupied by God. Without Him, man has to invent their own moral standard and human morality is subject to fleeting and fickle whims.

If you are seeking equality, fairness, justice, love, acceptance and all the other fundamental yearnings that we all have inscribed into our hearts, do not seek them amongst men. You must look to the source, the One that wrote those aspirations into our souls. The divine author that is embodied in our Lord Jesus Christ. Whom, thousand years ago set forth and established the path back to those ideas under the perfect moral standard of God.

THE MALE-FEMALE PARADOX OF EVOLUTION

__________

This is one of the greatest problems for the evolutionist, how did sexual reproduction evolve from single DNA mutations?

This suffers from the same basic problem as the Butterfly Paradox. Mainly, a great leap in single mutational changes required to have the correct body types needed with the mechanism for successful procreation of the species at the end of the process.

You could say this paradox even complicates the butterfly paradox further by adding another layer of complication to that issue. Evolutionists will say that organisms evolved into sexual reproduction as it is vastly more complicated than asexual reproduction. Basically, going from simple one celled organism that reproduces asexually and mutating into a more complicated multi-cell organism that reproduces sexually.

So, how did that happen?

To make the jump you must go from an asexual organism to a fully functioning male and female organism. Moreover, the process to procreate must work the first time or the species will not survive as either the male or female cannot asexually procreate on their own.

This is an all or nothing process that must happen successfully the first time via the process of random mutation and natural selection, otherwise the species dies out. There must have been a design and therefore a designer for this kind of complexity to happen. It cannot happen by chance.

It is like we are living with a vast population that is completely hypnotized and oblivious to anything. It is scary!

The feeling of being on nostr is like being on a luxury liner cruising through the ocean waves.

On board is a cadre of many guests, conversing amongst themselves, unaware to what is going on around them. Although many of the decks on the ship seem to be complete, splendid in adornment, many are not.

Behind the scenes there is a vast array of engineers, machinists, carpenters and other skilled craftsmen working to complete the ship even though it has launched on its maiden voyage. They work away bringing the spender to new heights.

Nobody knows where the ship will end up, they are just enjoying the ride. People of all walks of life, enjoying a splendid ride… Splendid indeed.

Thank you to all who are working on nostr! It’s a fabulous trip!

ā€˜float like a butterfly, sting like a bee’. pv and good morning all šŸŒžā˜•ļø I re-read this book summary I wrote and it was just the boost I needed for today and I hope it motivates you too.

This one is on Muhammad Ali, his younger days to winning World Championship twice, racism faced, drafted for war but declined causing his title to revoke and forced to live in exile for 4 yrs - and his comeback after all that downfall and winning the championship title again.

Some things that I loved :

1. You never know where you find some of the best talents

Ali met his manager Herbert who was originally his photographer and realised they shared same vision. Herbert took Ali from an olympics champion to world title champion twice, and made Ali the highest paid boxer of his time

2. The change in treatment by investors

Ali’s 1st investment offer as pro-fighter was $75 per wk for 10 yrs. His 2nd offer made him do odd jobs cleaning homes. 3rd investor took 50%, reminded Ali they were doing a black man a huge favour.

He went on to become the highest sponsored fighter

3. Joe Frazier - Ali’s all time biggest competitor

Frazier became heavyweight champ after Ali was stripped of his title. Ali fought him in ā€˜71 after exile to reclaim his title but lost. In a rematch in ā€˜74 Ali won and defended his title in their final fight in Manila in ā€˜75

4. On handling loss gracefully

He did not shy away from public when he lost. He said ā€œLet them hear how I lost. Let people who believe in me see that I’m not crushed, that I’ve had a defeat just as they have defeated, that I’ll get up & come back again, just like others do.ā€

5. Turning negative message to positive

Someone sent this negative poem ā€˜The butterfly has lost its wings, the bee has lost its sticks’. Ali used it as his motivation and it became a famous chant

ā€œ float like a butterfly, sting like a beeā€.

6. Certain things he was grateful for much later on that didn’t go his way

when he wanted Sugar Ray as his manager but Sugar Ray declined. Later on, he realized they had a different view of black fighters in America

7. Ali was famous on talking to his opponents

(I remember my dad telling me how he gets his opponents emotional with angst)

He picked up this art during Olympic Trials, after he fought Allen Hudson, who talked throughout, made fun of Ali’s mistakes & rattled him

8. He built publicity by bragging

ā€œI understood how it works. No one liked a braggart. It gets on your nerves. I started announcing: ā€œI’m the World’s Prettiest Fighter! The only fighter who predicts what round they’ll fall in!ā€ Almost overnight everyone wanted to see me fight.ā€

9. First championship title against Sonny Liston

He was asked to disavow his religion as Black Muslim or the fight be off. He declined. But he did not give up. He fought everyone under him and created so much publicity until the public wanted to see the fight badly.

10. Forced to join the army

In 1967, he was stripped of his world heavyweight title because he refused to join the army to kill Vietnamese (the Uncle Sam wants you era). He was facing 5 yrs prison charges

(From 1973 onwards, the military was on the voluntary basis)

11. Treatment from politicians during exile

Other Athletes who declined drafting still played. But Reagan kept Ali out of California. Senator from Mississippi gave license but orders from ā€œthe topā€ (Nixon/pentagon) asked it to be revoked. Senator Robert Kennedy supported Ali

12. Sometimes we all get beaten down

Ali was so jaded that when offers came he way, he didn’t want to try anymore. But Senator Johnson of Atlanta did not quit on Ali. He changed racist law that prevents blacks from fighting with whites

It was Ali’s first comeback after 4 years

13. Sometimes you may have been at it for a long time

After his exile, way past his ā€œpeak performance ageā€, ppl tell Ali his time has passed. Ali has been boxing for 20 years

Ali says ā€œI’m just getting startedā€

Few years after that he won back his championship title 2nd time

14. On why Ali always wins, by King Levinski

Because he knows all about losing. Ali said losing feels naked and cold, ā€œthey cut you off from the world - Nobody’s with the sucker who loses.ā€

15. John LennonĀ to Ali on the way people act when a star gets big

ā€˜Champ, the bigger you get, the more unreality you have to face. The more real you get, the more unreal they get.’

16. Running is source of stamina for Ali

He ran till he is tired, then ran some more. The real conditioning is when the pain kicks in; then it’s time to start pushing. Every mile after that is extra strength, stamina

What counts in the ring is what you can do after you’re tired

17. If you are scared and nervous - Ā Joe Lois to Ali

When Ali was nervous for a fight after his comeback and all were against him, Joe Lois said :

ā€œFighters get scared. But a scared fighter is a dangerous fighter, sometimes the most dangerous.ā€

18. How champions are made

ā€œChampions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside—a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, be a little faster, have the skill and the will.

But the will must be stronger than the skill.ā€

19. 2nd championship title fight in Zaire :

International bank transfers in the 70’s had to go through 3 banks on 2 continents before reaching Ali’s bank in Chicago.

The fight in Zaire started at 4am to follow NY’s ideal time.

Before the fight - they studied competitors closely - every fight videos, every move

During the fight - ā€œwhen everyone is watching, you still gotta observe your opponent & learn his strategy, no matter how prepared you are as it’s the real battleā€

20. From hate to love

ā€œThey will all be against you until they see you winning. Then they will be on your sideā€ - Muhammad Ali

I have recently watched some of his famous fights on YouTube. Good stuff! I like your posts! Cheers!

THE MOST GOLDILOCKS IN ALL OF PHYSICS

The fine-tuning of the universe is one of the most compelling arguments for the existence of God. Fine-tuning refers to the ā€œjust rightā€ initial conditions that were set into the equations that govern physics and how they effect life.

One of the most finely tuned parameters in physics is the entropy of the universe. It refers to the initial low entropy state of the universe, which was necessary for the existence of life. If the Big Bang Theory is correct and the universe started with a massive expansion, our newly formed universe was not a chaotic soup of energy and matter. It was quite the opposite, it was orderly. This is because of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This law states that there is a natural tendency of any isolated system to degenerate into a more disordered state. This direction towards disorder is called entropy.

The entropy of the universe was fine-tuned to such an exquisite degree. Physicist Roger Penrose estimated that the odds of the initial low entropy orderly state of our universe occurring by chance are on the order of 1 in 10 raised to the 10th power then raised to the 123rd power. [1] This number is absolutely unfathomable odds, even in the world of physics and mathematics. Basically, there would be a VERY large number of universes in which the entropy would be so chaotic in the beginning that it would be uninhabitable for life; before one is formed that could sustain life.

This leads to the view that the equations that govern physics and in turn life were designed to be just right for life to exist.

This is either two things:

The Church does not reflect the teachings of Jesus or the majority doesn’t fully understand what Jesus was teaching. I think it is probably a little of both, but both are the fault of the Church.

I had a brief exchange on nostr this weekend discussing diet and how it affects mood, specifically low-carb and carnivore ways of eating and how they may decrease depression symptoms. I first experienced this in 2018 when I started reducing sugar and processed grains in my diet, and after a few days, I noticed a significant improvement in my mood. However, it took a few more days to make the full connection, as I observed that consuming sugar again seemed to lower my mood.

Last November, while visiting my sister, I shared this insight with her. She mentioned that she had also started reducing sugar and carbs in her diet and had not realized the connection until we talked.

I am writing this to inform people who suffer from depression that the solution might not be an "imbalance," but it may be what they eat. Changing your diet can be one of the simplest things one could do, and it may have the most significant impact.

The brutal truth about life 🧵

1. No matter how hard you try, there will always be people who have more than you, and there will always be people who have less. We cannot control the circumstances of our birth, but we can control how we react to them.

2. Everyone fails at something at some point in their lives. What matters is how you deal with failure. Don't let him define you. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

3. Pain is part of life. What matters is how you deal with the pain. Don't let it consume you. Find healthy ways to deal with your pain and move on.

4. Death is a natural part of life. It's something we're all going to experience at some point. Don't let the fear of death stop you from living your life to the fullest.

5. Everyone feels lost, alone and scared at some point in their lives. You are not alone. There are people who care about you and want to help you. If you need help, look for it.

6. You are stronger than you think. You've survived everything life has thrown at you so far, and you'll continue to survive. Don't give up on yourself.

7. You are worthy of love, happiness and success. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Believe in yourself and never give up on your dreams.

8. Despite all the challenges, life is a beautiful thing. There is so much to experience and enjoy. Don't take life for granted. Make the most of every moment.

9. Your life is controlled by yourself. You can choose how you want to live it. Don't let anyone tell you what to do. Make your own choices and live your life the way you want to live it.

10. You are loved by people who like you. Do not forget it. Let the love of others surround you and give you strength.

Life isn't always easy, but it's always worth living. Embrace the challenges and enjoy the journey.

It’s amazing that people feel that their circumstances are specific to them, when they are human circumstances.
