Strike and almost every other app won’t work where I am in Trinidad. Eventually found someone I can purchase from P2P and sometimes I buy USDT (more widely used in South America and the Caribbean) and exchange it for bitcoin.
At first I was using the in app purchase to get small amounts of bitcoin as it was the only bitcoin purchase the local banks weren’t blocking (probably because it was masked via billing via Apple). Didn’t even mind losing around 33 cents on the dollar on every purchase.
But the frequent purchases triggered a wallet freeze. Very surprising, I would have thought the purchase feature alone would be disabled but all zaps and send/receive functions also stopped working.
That was a bit scary.
Yup, easiest onboarding I’ve come across. There are limitations though, 1 million Sats max and your wallet can be frozen.
All local banks straight up block any crypto purchases via credit and debit cards where I’m from. P2P or lining is the only way to source it
