The tweet had nothing to do with inscriptions, but was about those who put ossification over scaling.

Without upgrades like covenants, sovereign ownership of Bitcoin will never happen at large scale.

I will as a one off directly answer your question and the context I posted this as an olive branch.

There is a lot of people looking to filter out OP_False OP_IF envelopes for ordinals, which will just route around the filters for out of band payments. Most are minor players or no names, but even if a minority opinion it’s shocking how flippant people are with mempool policy.

yes, lots of people are advocating for a change to mempool policy to prevent inscritptions from being relayed on the peer to peer network.

It won't happen, because it has no consensus, but people who should know better keep angling for it.

Guys, miners aren’t going to take double digit % losses because someone does an optional pull request. It will take a day of dev work and coordination and all the ordinals degens will bypass the new mempool and get their transactions in blocks. The mempool though, will die, removing the ability of users to do fee estimation.

Additionally, in the short term it centralizes mining since any new/small miner will no longer be able to use the mempool to ascertain most profitable blocks. Only those with the out of band connections could survive.

This ironically is solved by stratum v2, where the miners as rational economic actors will just put jpgs back in their blocks.

The hubris to think one can out design greed and Bitcoin game theory is astonishing. nostr:note1uju8hz6v6rtwsf98g8jh3jmvk7qf4u4prd6f5ee9maurnzj9gfmsnp4tv7

Over on Bitcoin Twitter, people are saying you can have a self custody setup without running a node. Have a feeling that Nostr better understands how Bitcoin works.

I'm shocked at the amount of people in bitcoin proposing mempool policy changes without understanding second/third order consequences, or even worse, thinking they know but are wrong.

Merry Christmas Nostr Fam!

Wizard Sardine, nostr:npub1hgexz8p2f0u3t9gwy3mnjpq2u2djun0708yzxa8m2juey5uglt4qmv7qms , Casa, and “my citadel wallet” are the ones that come to mind. It’s also live in Core as of version 25 (26 for taproot).

For me using taproot still out on the risk curve until Musig & Frost have more standardized implementations and hardware wallet support.

For now, I think the use of miniscript is the biggest upside of the edge firmware, but we are one of 4-5 companies building on it actively right now. A year from now I imagine ux bugs would be ironed out.

Is it cool that I only make my Twitter/Linkedin profile pic a suit and can keep the poker one for Nostr?
