As there are no algos here, your feed is a direct representation of who you follow. That is a difficult thing to understand when most traditional social networks force you to follow to get that base feed or have a starter algo to present you with content.
Have you thought about creating a Listr.lol list for your buddies so they can quickly follow a group of accounts you deem solid to get that starting point?
I've gotten that before on bad/unsupported file extensions. If you're trying to download a gif/jpg from elsewhere, make sure it isn't saving as webp or some other format.

If you've never driven through Utah on a road trip, it can get dicey because of this, too. Those last gas/service for 100+ miles signs and then spotty ass cell reception always have me on edge.

Again, the bottom line is his outburst has likely turned off some people like myself. I've suggested Damus for months now to folks looking for nostr clients at my local Bitcoin meetups. I will no longer do so. I've made some donations to nostr projects and seeing the folks that cosigned his message... that's going to stop, too.
