I'm not at all surprised that authoritarian politicians would want features like this. From a technical perspective, though, I'm curious about how they would go about implementing them. Would they integrate backdoors into widely used apps with camera access, like WhatsApp? Or would they rely on exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities in operating systems?

They make all the developers an offer they can't refuse... I believe even Signal which is supposed to be secure has a bit of code that is not open source.
I could not agree with that more.
Just noticed my daughter's sticker stash from BTC Prague on her drawing stuff :-)
Recognize anything?

I love Prague.
Something that I think a lot of people at least in America don't really understand. is how much USD is circulating around the world. For instance, I'm in Panama right now and the entire country runs on dollars. It's the official currency. Other countries like Uruguay have their own currency but a gigantic portion of the economy is in dollars. This amount of money floating around internationally is a huge risk to the USA domestic economy. It makes it even more important to protect the value of the dollar so as to keep that money outside of the United States.

It's winter time now, so it's not that hot but I can't imagine it in the summer.
Another shot of Panama City.

“Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.”

I would argue that there is manipulation because the spot price is easily moved around and often is especially as it relates to the closing dates on futures contracts.
Some sort of Panamanian viper. What a specimen.
