there are multiple stories of ukrainian and russian soldiers getting wrecked by a third party. I mentioned this earlier this year. where a convoy was attacked and mid fight suddenly one side turned around and started ignoring the original fight while trying to back away towards the other group as they were engaging a third party and eventually both ukrainians and russians were fighting against a third party that was firing on both of them.
