I'm a software test engineer. Outside of work I try to improve my fitness, I love cycling, music, and books. Currently obsessed with specialty coffee. Let's see how Nostr will work out.

I use it passively to follow local businesses and accounts of my interest. Rarely posting myself. Works much better than Facebook where curating the feed is next to impossible and lot of times I missed updates from the follows I cared about.

Today, the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day is observed in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It commemorates student demonstrations that lead to the fall of the communist regime in then Czechoslovakia.

The struggle is on and I think instead of protesting in the streets, learning about #freedomtech is a much better use of tΓme and energy nowadays. I found a nice intro to #Reticulum network stack today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8ltLt5SK6A

Okay, I figured it out - after I added English to the system languages, it started displaying correctly.

My last #bikeride has turned into a #photo shooting πŸ˜€ I love #autumn 😍

Long time no see... how are things going on #Nostr? Any good apps/utilities/resources that I should check out?

I have noticed that in the days right before my period I have higher stamina for long bike rides than in other phases. So I plan demanding endurance rides for that time of the month.

Will check out the podcast, thanks!

The weekend is here, let's get the party started! Discovered these thanks to Tiga's set for Boiler Room 😎

I always considered running unenjoyable and tiring. I tried a simple 'Couch to 5k' plan 5 years ago and it didn't go well - I quit after 2 weeks due to feeling exhausted and pain in various parts of my body.

This winter I got myself a fitness watch and found it features running plans that adapt to individual's fitness level and progress. At that time I was reading Atomic Habits by James Clear which gives tips on how to build a new habit and break a bad one. I decided to give running another chance, this time testing the advice. I picked the easiest plan with the goal to cover 5km by combination of running and walking.

The results? I have managed to finish entire 11 week long plan comfortably without pain, haven't missed any training, and finally did a 5km run with 3 short walking breaks 😁 I've made a habit of running first thing in the morning, fasted. Most importantly, I can enjoy running now and am looking forward to the next plan to cover 5km by continuous running.

So, to build a new habit, try this:

- find a place in your schedule and stack it on some existing habit which will give you a cue (in my case right after waking up)

- make it easy and fun so that you don't have trouble achieving it (the first step could be just changing into your sports clothes, next one go out for 5 minutes)

- reduce friction and automate (I've kept running clothes ready for the morning and the watch would prepare progressive workouts for me)

- consistency is the key, try not to break the chain, if it happens, resume the routine on the very next occasion

Drones delivering blood and other medical supplies in Rwanda? Amazing! Even moving, as a colleague of mine said (Abdul's story in particular) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOWDNBu9DkU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI9f8lPBD08 Captivating videos on this channel, a guy explores abandoned mine tunnels and he does most of his trips alone. Don't try this at home! πŸ˜€

Ooh, almost forgot about this one, haven't heard it in ages. Still a great tune.

Any #cycling fans? It's Friday evening and I've prepared my bikes for the season. Discovered TPU inner tubes and veloplugs so I gave'em a try... shaved 300g from the weight of my MTB. Barely 100g for the road bike, but now I can fit 2 spare tubes into the saddlebag. Let's see how many kms until the first puncture πŸ˜€
