I don’t think much makes me happier these days than exploring new experiences in #bitcoin and #lightning and #nostr as well as computing and privacy platforms. Bouncing between Nostr clients now that I’ve gotten over trusting my nsec to those apps has been quite a bit of fun. Same with trusting some sats with various lightning wallets is a blast. After all, if I’m slinging sats to #plebchain freaks, why not trust a few to
some different wallets to see what they have to offer.
An improvement suggestion - supply context. Of course, loading third party firmware can lead to this. Trezor, as the engineer pointed out, open sources their firmware to eliminate any suggestion of possible key extraction.

Perhaps you might consider that cheering (Max Keiser) for others (shitcoins) to fail at the hands of unelected bureaucrats whims might not be the most wonderful outcome? After Gensler and the SEC force shitcoins into compliance, what’s next for their busy hands? Perhaps you might consider that corporate sponsorship (@saylor) of ANYTHING might have unexpected results/unintended consequences? Look around you and see all the deformation of society at the hands or corporate interests? No?
I’m not a Marxist (far, far from it). What I’m saying is that, for me, adoption is about people, my people, the #plebchain denizens who are creating the circular economies outside the politically skewed fiat clown world - this is genuine and true adoption born of proper incentives IMHO.
It’s a subtle differentiation but an important one. Think about all the times you watched nostr:npub15dqlghlewk84wz3pkqqvzl2w2w36f97g89ljds8x6c094nlu02vqjllm5m and Max Keiser and had this feeling in your lizard brain that something was off; just didn’t feel legit somehow? That’s your Statism and Corporatism sensor warning you about their incentives being wrong.
Trust these feelings. While you think that, overall, adoption is adoption and that is the utmost goal, goals attained by skewed incentives are falsely won and have consequences which are not necessarily beneficial.
I’m criticized time and again for saying that adoption MUST be organic and genuine to be the kind of adoption we hope for. For example - adoption as a result of social interaction here on #nostr by #plebchain is the purest and most genuine adoption I can imagine.
I didn’t think much of ⚡️ until becoming a Nostrarian. Now I have sats all over the place in at least a dozen wallets trying and testing all methods of slinging sats. I wonder why every single business doesn’t have a lightning address. This is the kind of adoption and evangelism that will persist and feel genuine to the uninitiated - the kind that will drive #bitcoin.

Guess you got it working? Kudos. I tried yesterday afternoon and had various issues - turns out there was a problem server side according to nostr:npub1u8lnhlw5usp3t9vmpz60ejpyt649z33hu82wc2hpv6m5xdqmuxhs46turz - I’ll have to give it another shot this weekend. Good show getting it going though.

I’ve come to the conclusion that few estimates on chain are one of the single biggest flaws in every wallet design, and people’s brains using those wallets are equally fucking broken.
How hard would it be if during the use of the transaction UI, you could have a small pop-up hover window that gave you mempool.space estimates in real time and ENCOURAGED you to put in your custom fee based on that? I mean, whatever software people are using for on-chain TXs is fucking them, and frankly everyone else by creating illusory competition.
Do miners benefit from developer’s laziness and incompetence? Yes. I’m a miner and I get that. But I’m an ethical miner and I use on-chain TX’s and it’s crazy that we even have to have RBF or CPP because developers do a poor job of fee estimating.
I love developers but they are often the last people to understand what the real world is like around them.
