the media is mostly about people and events that don't affect me or anyone i know, living lifestyles none of us could realistically hope to attain. it might as well be fiction. real life happens in the moment, right where you're at.

the media is a bit like that guy who brags about his wealth and status to get laid but turns out to be dirt poor. they'll even do it to serious stuff like extreme weather. i saw people shopping extra groceries today because they were worried. "haha let's scare the peasants!"
it feels like the meteorologists and the media simply decided we would have a scary moment this week because it was getting a bit boring.
some streets with poor drainage were flooded but i mean, it's just a bit of water.
one headline exaggerated and said "the Ring 2 motorway is flooded" - while technically true, it was only a small part of it. i live next to that motorway, and i assure you that if the entire thing was flooded, so would the entire hospital campus i live next to be, and so would the entire downtown area, seeing as Ring 2 surrounds it and it goes uphill.

Oslo has been included in the red zone on the latest forecast. we're about to get some extreme rain.
the Swedish visitor has packed and departed.
his plan is to ask for shelter from welfare, but didn't seem sure if he'd succeed. he was worried that because he turned it down earlier, they'd refuse to offer it now.
those case processors have all the power in situations like that. what if one of them is in a bad mood that day? what is a person that has nothing supposed to do?
when welfare doesn't do its job, it's very rare that anyone faces any consequences for it.
