nostr:npub1ma85mgk3frzk3ed07k9xnye8npzz9cjkjt0szhpkq086t53p5weqvv3lks i'm not currently on Windows or macOS but when i was, my software of choice was the Affinity suite from Serif. they have good alternatives to Photoshop and Illustrator that are easy to use for anyone who has experience with those.

some of the default in InkScape don't make a whole lot of sense, such as all the Live Preview and Apply buttons everywhere. in commercial products, everything is always live and applied on the fly, which helps a lot because you can just play around with the controls until you get the result you want. InkScape sort of expects you to already know what you want and which settings you need for that. it's not fully WYSIWYG. the way you edit filters is also pretty nuts compared to the alternatives. i never understood why FOSS apps insist on being so weird about everything. don't they know what UI expectations users coming from commercial tools have?

InkScape is workable as a graphics design tool but it's definitely a lot clunkier to work with than the commercial alternatives, like they just coded it in a vacuum and never tested and compared with any of the competition.

i haven't been paying attention to local politics and municipal elections are coming up. i'm not feeling myself caring all that much. the top issues are always stuff that majority groups care about. i'd probably vote more if i lived in a country of neurodiverse people.

#ADHD vs learned helplessness is a very interesting topic because it's not always so easy to know the difference between your true limitations and your perceived limitations. they can also change during the course of your life, because the brain and its structures aren't set in stone. if you've experienced a lot of failure and don't have a good social network, it's tempting to give up and "submit to your fate". personally, i think this is a waste of talent. very often, people who could thrive are just in the wrong environment.

symptoms of learned helplessness - a thought disorder. some of these overlap with symptoms of the non-hyperactive inattentive variant of #ADHD.

boiling tortellini again, and yes, i will be eating it with chopsticks again

magazine idea that i whipped up in InkScape :blobcatgoogly:

and the Meme of The Year awards

every business idea since the dawn of time:

"heheh, neat concept, but what about my idea, which is much better?"

tfw you're ND and you hate the sound of the vacuum cleaner almost as much as the cat does 💀

many business ideas look stupid until someone tries it and hey shit it's making money now
