you have no idea what stuff tastes like and you don't wanna waste your money on food that you're gonna throw away because you don't like it.

it's a shame they don't offer free samples more often. it might improve sales. free samples are really rare, at least here in Norway.

i made the mistake of picking up some Norwegian groceries at the international store.

problem: it's a neighbourhood store and most of its customers are Polish who never buy Norwegian brands.

i ended up with an item that expired in March 2023. it was a breakfast cereal and those have a long shelf life, so it must've been sitting there for aeons.

The point I'm trying to make is Woman are naturally neurotic, highly self critical, and cultural gate keepers of beauty standards. It's a natural impulse just like wanting to care for babies and play with dolls. In the same way that boys want to explore, create things, and take risks to see what happens. No toxic Influence required.

nostr:npub1cuscsrz6efq99ptktk26x58v4yqy9y46ytp8xw4rjjwq0wlt6znst66789 Worth noting too that BMI is pretty terrible at actually estimating healthy weights, and pretty much always lowballs it because it basically doesn’t account for muscle mass whatsoever

nostr:npub1s0wchfyvkqdthkta0954ezakge2gr93qxlrzuvgkdndmgg39st8qz2f79w if your muscle mass isn't average it will be thrown off yeah, and i suppose it would also be thrown off if you're big-boned. the main point was unhealthy body shape ideals, and the idea that there's quite a broad range of body sizes that i think people ought to feel okay about.

this is not a subject us guys speak up about very often, perhaps because we feel it's none of our business, but...

a lot of people seem to think that the girl to the left in this chart is the one with the ideal body weight, when in reality, she's slightly malnourished.

people who are thin as bones and close to anorexia get an unhealthy amount of positive attention in the media. and i don't understand why.

as a man, i woudn't really think of a girl as fat unless she looked like number 4 from the left. number 3 just looks like she has a relaxed attitude, which is attractive in its own way.

aside from the horrible beautify standards that the media pushes on us these days, i think girls must get a lot of abuse from toxic people to feel this insecure.

young women who eat unhealthily little and are desperate to control their weight because they think they look big is a thing and it shouldn't be.

there are these moments when humans interact without saying anything that are interesting

if only the Pirate Parties were better organised. Mastodon would be the perfect place for them to be in, but their presence is very weak. their policies are a perfect match for fedi.

been posting less because i'm DMing more lately

what's so weird about talking to a depressed person is that... hm...

i mean, you can say lots of nice things to them to make them feel better, but this risks ending up in a place where they depend on you, because no one else is encouraging them.

it gets complicated because ideally you wish for the person to have others around them who are supportive too.
