All a normie needs to understand is that he has two choices:

1. Use banks

2. Be your own bank

It's obvious that he'd start with (1) and will want to use the 'best' banks.

It's also obvious that only being your own bank gives him full control, but also full responsibility.

Nostr helps with both finding good banks and diving into the technics of how to start being your own.

The main issue I was thinking of is using these in other protocols. You couldn’t really use these to unlock content or accept a DM, etc.

It seems like you would have to take extra steps to get a receipt of *real* payment. You would have to initiate a swap with a trusted mint. With a lightning zap i know my node sent it so it’s real right when I receive it.

not knowing if its real until you send it has lots of psycological implications that would lead to a negative perspective on bitcoin... is it worth it? I don't know if tons of unreliable mints that go defunct is a good idea. look at what happened with relays, now half the ecash in your wallet no longer work after awhile? I dunno man.

It's all about spam management.

Nostr has a leg up given the lightning support. Next steps will be to require micro payments for actions that could be abused by spammers.

- Intercept an HTLC on your routing node

- notice that your channel has insufficient balance and the forward will fail

- while the HTLC is held, rebalance your channel using an atomic ecash swap with your channel peer

Back in my office after six weeks of traveling abroad and working remotely.

Went to Norway and then mostly Egypt. Those trips are important to me and give me time to think and socialize and put things in perspective. But over time I build up plans and momentum for what I want to work on when I get back.

Real decentralization like #bitcoin don’t need tips or any stuff besides it’s own economic incentives to get miners and node operators working. #Ethereum guys seems to have got this from the start but #nostr still not.

Implements real decentralization on #nostr and people will get involved in order to create value.
