#sourdough everything bagels.

A rare sight to find a cicada hatching on your garage door frame. These emerge from the ground in the crab form, then hatch into the beautiful butterfly seen here. I went to heat up some oil to fry it, but when I returned it was gone!😦

#sourdough bagels. I tried making them larger my kid complained “they’re too small”. 🙄 ran out of the good King Arthur flour this is Gold Medal, I see no difference. I haven’t made a loaf of bread for about 2 months now, I grew tired of it and needed a change.

They look at the sand as it falls and they get a sense of how long 1 min 3 min and 5 minutes are.

Interestingly, IIRC it was introduced here in the 1800's or something as an ornamental. It grows so fast and vigorously, it's nuts. Maybe that's to be expected of an invasive, but it's still crazy.

I live on woodland that was agricultural land 25 years ago, and now it's dense forest. The catch is that 70%+ of it is Ailanthus that chokes out all the quality timber.

Woodpeckers in these parts have evolved and now use aluminum gutters and vents to hammer with their beaks to transmit sound. It’s louder than hollow thin trees. They communicate to each other - I can here another rapping away several homes away, returning the “call”. Sounds like an A-10 in my house.
