Companies are constantly spying on everyone, and then 3 years later they decide to sunset the products we like forcing people to either go without security updates or buy another device.
In contrast, open source projects don't spy on people, and it's transparent so third parties can verify that. People aren't building open source technology to con you into buying more of their stuff. Open source projects will live on as long as there is community interest. Even if a company or even the founder decides they don't want to work on a project anymore, others can pick it up and carry it forward.
There was a bug in the #signet client where it didn't check the size of #password entries when importing from #keypass databases. If they were too big, the import process would freeze.
Today that has been fixed in the #code and the patch will be included in the next release.
No security impact, but it was a usability issue.

Cool. It's fun stuff and I'm interested in combining it with other technologies in unauthorized ways. ๐
No need for it to be limited to cell phones or chatting. ๐ค
I have a couple composters too. ๐
Willing to share any part numbers, suppliers or code? I have a bunch of places I'd like soil moisture sensors!
It's true!
I bought a bicycle with cash earlier this year, didn't register it, didn't tell any insurance companies, and I ride it without a license whenever I want.
Building your own hardware?
#Signet #Saturday will not be clearing off the workbench like it was last week. Much more interesting work this time around.
I plan on digging deep to work on an import issue and keep adding documentation. I might work on some hardware, or mayve not. Depends on what kind of mood I'm in. ๐ค
For anyone who is wondering what I'm doing, it's simple: reasearching, documenting and spreading the word about how meshtastic can be used by microcontrollers.
I want to make it super easy, so someone who is new to microcontrollers can use it.
I worked on #meshtastic some more today and managed to brick my node so hard, even re-flashing the meshtastic firmware didn't fix it!
I ended up finding an image to wipe everything, flashed that, then reflashed meshtastic, and configured it again.
It turns out, enabling serial on other GPIO pins mskes USB not work right. I'm going to see if there's a way to work. If not, then I'll see if I can make with the serial via a USB to UART board.
And then to top it off, they show up at a #bitcoin conference, but they don't even accept bitcoin. ๐คฃ
Even if you bypass their anti-Tor nonsense, which is trivial by the way, you can't check out without creating an account.
It's 2024. Just let people enter shipping and paymeny details and call it a day. WTF?
#PublicSquare: we want to be the marketplace for everyone!
Also PublicSquare: we block all #Tor users from both selling and even buying things from anyone on our #marketplace! ๐ฟ

Nope, not interested. #OptOut
Our national economies and certainly the global #SupplyChain's continued function are questionable.
#Permaculture is cheap and possible by direct action.
If that's not enough motivation, #homegrown food tastes way better than the most expensive stuff you can buy in the grocery store, and that's no joke! #food #foodstr
