I block freely. I've been harassed by abhorrent dickheads. Most of my kind flowers report the same harassment and block as well.

I'm finding my feed to be well curated to my needs and audience this way, but it can get exhausting.

I'm me, a strong woman and person and I have learned to wear a little armor in the form of allied like minds. Yep sometimes I crack and feel small but I try to get back up or at least paint about it to vent. Lol

Other platforms allow users to be blocked and reported and potentially banned from using the platform for hate/harassment/etc. This isn’t the case on nostr of course because that completely goes against the whole foundation of nostr.

There’s too many issues to list, but you can research it if it’s helpful. To me, it feels like a microcosm of being a woman in the world. For example, I posted a picture of myself but then received hate for it because I’ve brought up mistreatment by other nostr men (aka if I post a picture like that then I deserve mistreatment). We’re held to the same BS societal guidelines here as we are in the real world. And when women bring up the issues here (in a kind way), we’re still unheard, harassed, and not considered. We just want our experiences to be considered, not dismissed. I hope that helps.

People could subscribe to a censor. Then if that censor issues a 1984 event, the client could mute that event.

Here’s a little something for the guys…

Most of us (myself included) have a pretty strong shame response to having our privilege named. It can make us feel confused and powerless to find we have contributed, probably unknowingly, to the harm of others in our community.

The defensiveness that typically follows may come in a few forms:

1. Outright hostility and aggression

2. Minimizing counter-evidence

3. Demands for education

Each of these are an attempt to regain the kind of control and safety we usually feel as “normal”. We normally navigate the world feeling safe, understood, and likely to find some level of solidarity with others. This feeling of safety is part of what is meant by “privilege”.

We are far less likely to be subject to unprovoked harassment, threats, and de-humanization. When these things do occur they are less likely to conjure up a consistent, lifelong history of physical threats and/or attacks suffered by less-privileged people (usually at the hands of people who look/sound/identify like us).

I’m not saying that we haven’t or can’t suffer harm or experience trauma — far from it. But the defensiveness and coping strategies in response to trauma aren’t something a decentralized protocol is going to fix.

I’ve found talk therapy helpful. It’s not for everyone, but I want to encourage you find something that helps you feel fully human again. (hint: spewing hate speech online just because you can probably isn’t it)

For the men out here trying to do their inner work and lift others up, I’m grateful.

Yep, we optimize for 2gb of cache, half for the in-device translation models and the rest for pictures and videos in Nostr.

It's only for rendering if another client sends in as "Other". Other is otherwise not a valid code by the NIP spec.
