Receiving zaps to my nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm address is failing. Still able to send zaps from my Alby NWC though. šŸ¤” Anyone else having issues receiving to Alby?

I don't think people can send to me (Alby browser plugin), but I haven't been bothered to look into it. On the to do list.

Congratulations. Looks like it was a tiring journey. Or so far he's finding life a bit boring.

If we could teach cats to talk they would become mankind's relaxation gurus.

But with poses like that maybe they already are.

Just pay your protection money and forget about it. Or move to a tax free jurisdiction if you can. No use upsetting yourself about things you can't change.

I wish I could fly like a bird. But I can't. I'm a prisoner and slave of gravity. My every movement is controlled and limited by it. I was born that way, I'll die that way. Forget about it. Complete joy and contentment is still possible even as a prisoner and slave.

It's happening. The happening is happening.

My journey of running gobrrr.me officially started in September 2021, at block height 698517, I started to build this shop after spending a lot of time in my two rabbit holes which are bitcoin and 3D-printing. It's not obvious at first glance but the two overlap quite a bit.

I had some experience in building onlineshops and this was my chance to build something entirely different. Most fiat online stores are loaded with trackers and cookies to get every little bit of information out of their customers. It is, quite frankly, disgusting for a person like me who's old enough to have had the pleasure to experience the old "open" Internet as it was back when I got to know it. My regular job in marketing forced me to work with Facebook a lot, I knew all the ins and outs of their tracking systems and let me tell you, it's not pretty. The general consensus among the people I worked with was, if you want a successful online store, you need all the tracking you can get. Not just Facebook, all of them.

Well, they were wrong. It is possible to run an online shop in a privacy preserving fashion, without third-party cookies, tracking, automated newsletters and plugins from middlemen.

Is it more work? Absolutely. But the extra mile is worth it to me, and here's the kicker, it seems to be worth it from the customer's POV as well, because I received insane amounts of positive feedback in the last 2.5 years from so many people. And not only that, many offered their support, pointed out flaws or just helped me get things working without wanting anything in return. By now, it would be far too many to list here, and I can never repay them for their time and patience with me, so here's just a general BIG THANK YOU. You know who you are.

The real news is here, because I have a confession to make. With the start of this year, I have been slowly transitioning to going brrr full time. I admit I was very hesitant to make this information public because I didn't want to jinx it, but, here it is. This little side project has grown so much, that it is my life now, and I am insanely grateful for that. Even more for all the lovely people I have encountered along the way, some of them have become my friends and I would never want to be without them again.

Am I making less than I did before? Yes, and by a wide margin. But I'm also MUCH happier because I can finally do what I love, 3D-print stuff, design cool things, build nodes and play with awesome bitcoin tech. You can be sure that everything I make, was made with <3 and I am now 100% sure that all of my previous experiences led me to where I am right now. There's still so much to do and discover.

Am I afraid of the risks sometimes? Hell yes, but im infinitely more pumped about the possibilities and can't wait to see what the future holds.

Big thanks to all customers, partners and friends for your never ending support. I deeply appreciate it!

Thank you for reading! As part of my nostr first approach. I will post this on twitter at a later date. You heard it here first. :D

Well done. So many people stuck in jobs they can't stand with people they can't stand, just for the money. Keep going!

But yeah, I'm happy that you're happy for him. But I worry that

false hope could lead to even greater despair.

'I love Wikileaks' -> Assange imprisoned.

'I'll free Ross' -> ?

When Trump says he's pro bitcoin I assume that will mean bitcoin privacy annihilated. No private transactions. Lighting banned, etc. etc.

No CBDCs = Blackrock/Tether surveilled and programmable stable coins and tokens.

Trump's a snake.

A lot of people have heard my moped story but I don’t think I’ve ever told the story of my extremely cheap wedding lol šŸ˜‚

I got married in 2016, at the time I was aggressively stacking sats and trying to be as frugal as possible.

So I convinced my fiancƩe to have the wedding in our backyard to save money.

Total cost was under $5,000 which included the dress and her ring (seriously). So how did I pull that off when weddings in America routinely cost 30-50k?

Here’s how…

1. Ring: Her ring is fake. More specifically it’s a moissanite which is a lab grown gemstone that looks like a diamond but isn’t a diamond. My wife was on board with this because it allowed her to get a much bigger stone than she otherwise would have and no one can tell the difference. Total cost: $1,200

2. Dress: When it came time to pick out the dress I didn’t want to interfere, so I just let her mom and sister go pick one out with her. She didn’t have a budget, but she was fully bought into my crazy money saving plan and found a dress she loved that only cost $500. That’s how you know you’re marrying the right girl. Total cost: $500

3. Venue: Free obviously because we did it in our backyard, but I did spend a little buying gifts for the neighbors because we were going to be making a lot of noise. Total cost: $200

4. Tables & chairs: We rented these, something to understand when it comes to rentals. When I called vendors for this wedding I didn’t tell any of them it was a wedding. I used the word ā€œeventā€ on the phone. This makes everything 30% cheaper. Total cost: $600

5. Decorations: we bought a nice metal arch to get married under for $300 and then we spent an additional $500 on lanterns, tablecloths, candles, fake flowers etc… I put them all up myself. Total cost: $800

6. Drinks: Instead of having a fancy bar with a bartender or whatever I went to Costco bought a bunch of wine and beer, threw it in a cooler and called it a day. Total cost: $500

7. Music: at this point in the thread you really think I’m hiring a fancy DJ for this shit? lol no we had a Bluetooth speaker. Total cost: $200

8. Food: instead of doing some BS catering company we got a taco cart guy. Taco cart guy is the shit, you should really have one of these at every event. Everyone loved this dude and said they were some of the best tacos they’ve ever had. Total cost: $500

9. Photo/video: Even though I was running a production company at this time we decided to skip the video altogether. Why? Because nobody ever watches it. Plus my business partner and crew members were going to be attending the wedding. The only thing you want is that one photo of you walking down the aisle that you’re going to hang in the house. So I hired a good photographer I knew in town to show up for 20 mins and take a few shots of the ceremony. Total cost: $400

Bringing the grand total for the backyard wedding to $4,900

The wedding was so out of the norm by modern standards, that my new father in law pulled me aside and suggested I was being too frugal and needed to loosen up a bit. I smiled and nodded politely and then continued right along my path. My wife was on board, I was on board. We had a vision for our future. No one was going to stop me, no matter how ā€œwell intentionedā€ A vision I’m happy to report we are living today.

You want different results than others? You gotta do different shit than they do. Be weird. People will judge you for it, but it won’t matter, because in the end you’ll win.

Today we look back fondly on our cheap wedding. 10/10 would recommend.

Haha. Look at all the zaps you got!

Trailblazer. Top effort. Social pressure must have been huge.

But ideally, perhaps all weddings should cost no more than about 500 bucks (for westerners)? If you make it to your 20th anniversary, then splurge $20k-$50k if you want.

But you probably don't want.
