Astronomy, space, Linux, retrocomputing, Lisp, coding. No stock photos, SEO, marketing, clickbait, ads, or calls to action. I Just enjoy sharing my geeky interests. #Lisp #Interlisp #CommonLisp

Thirty years ago today, on Dec 8, 1994, X3J13 approved ANSI Common Lisp. Forty years ago, in 1984, Digital Press published the first edition of the book Common LISP: The Language by G.L. Steele, aka CLtL1.

A 1993 case study of using CLOS for developing a blackborad system for radar tracking. The design is interesting, but that way of formatting Lisp code with solitary parentheses on a line by themselves drives me crazy.

A rare copy for sale of "Lisp Style and Design" by Molly Miller and Eric Benson (Digital Press, 1990), a great book cited by Paul Graham in On Lisp that covers often overlooked topics. All the proceeds will be donated to the Medley Interlisp Project.

When I moved from ChromeOS to Linux last month I made a small but significant change in my setup. I installed Firefox as the default browser on all my desktop and mobile devices: a Linux PC, an Android smartphone, and an Android tablet.

It's increasingly important to avoid monocultures, support open systems, and send web publishers the message open systems can't be ignored.

True, I've been away from Linux for years but...

Why are most Flatpak packages 1+ GB downloads that triple in size when expanded and installed? Is this normal? What gives?

My very first blog is still online and its name clearly states what I focused on: Lisp Propulsion Laboratory log.

I published the blog from July of 2005 to March of 2007. The site is a time capsule from an era at the long tail of the AI winter, when activity in the Lisp community was at its lowest before a new beginning.

CPMImage is a GUI front-end for cpmtools, the popular suite of tools for accessing CP/M file systems.

It's similar to WinImage but, unlike WinImage which is Windows only, CPMImage runs also on Linux. The tool is in an early stage of development and is actually cross-platform as it's written in Python with Tkinter.
