I think it’s funny when folks have accessed me of bringing politics into bitcoin. If anything, politics has been involved wayyyy to much with bitcoin, in the form of “lifestyle maximalism” within the community, that makes bitcoin SEEM like a political lifestyle thing when it is not. I am simply trying to get past and beyond that, but the only way you do that is by first bringing attention to it.
I criticize and discuss this because my background is in sociology and social theory, and because I really fucking care about #bitcoin and our world.

Article will be dropping tomorrow morning via #[1] titled “The Bitcoin Culture War Won’t Win Mass Adoption.” Another little sneak peak:
“This is not about censoring views or speech, but rather about encouraging those Bitcoiners in positions of power and influence to keep in mind the diversity of our population and the hope for Bitcoin’s mass adoption. In politics and in life, those in positions of power often engage in rhetoric and topics that are actually a distraction from the real issues average citizens face. As folks continue to wake up to this reality, as inflation grows, the state of our economy continues to erode, more folks continue to ask questions — the same questions being asked after the 2008 financial crisis. Why is wealth inequality so high? Why are my savings dwindling and affording things is growing harder by the year? Do politicians even care?”
And listen, bitcoin still has a huge privacy problem that will continue to be the focus
I’m pretty staunchly against evangelism. Build products, write, etc…those that want to learn will come. The important thing is for the community to relentlessly make themselves present in the world—in politics, business, philanthropy, their community, etc—so that folks have endless opportunities to engage with bitcoin in the way that makes sense and is most useful to them…voluntary, non-coercive.
Nothing groundbreaking, but the argument against privacy in bitcoin falls on its face when you convey to people that using bitcoin, especially lightning or ecash, etc, is like using cash—with cash, that merchant or person doesn’t necessarily know your identity, goods/services are exchanged, etc.
The world is acting as of bitcoin ushers in this new private nefarious factor that never existed previously. Not true! Always has existed and always will (well, governments are trying to have a say on that as we speak, aren’t they).
Finally zappin people from my lightning node via #[0] !!
But…what’s the easiest ways for folks to receive zaps via Zeus?

No, but with them and a few other posts I’ve made where I’ve used the term domestic terrorist or used other media outlets on his naughty list (NPR) twitter makes posting a tweet very difficult. It will say “failed to post” even if I try 10 times. But if I edit the tweet removing the image preview from the tweet, it posts immediately. Also my views on that tweet are like 1/5th what they usually are bc I have the bbc article linked. So it’s a bit of censorship, yes, for sure.
Posted a bbc article with my tweet. Wasn’t able to send it until I removed the article preview. This tweet will probably gain less traction as well (and already is in terms of view compared to my other tweets).
Tired of relying on a CEO’s mood (Musk no likey BBC) to determine what I can and cannot post.
Thank god for #nostr
Got a little Liz Warren pump this morning

My painter didn’t want to be paid with Venmo (because they’ll charge him he says), doesn’t do bitcoin or anything, but would take cash…we’re very close to folks realizing peer-to-peer lightning and #bitcoin transactions y’all, especially workers.
Well I do have faint memories of eating chicken back in the day…I may pass! 😂
When is square going to integrate #bitcoin lightning payments and why hasn’t it already #[1]? Got a local business who’s also a bitcoiner that was asking.
My 2 cents: in a time of great global complexity, bear market, FUD, government attacks likely to increase, etc, #bitcoin and the community should focus on keeping bitcoin simple, more and more secure, more catered towards mass adoption, ease of access, and lightning. Do that first and foremost, and do it to perfection.
It’s probably a books worth at some point but for now it’s an article (a bit longer 15-20 min read)
Yeah I’ll try my hand at poetry next 😂

Draft is done! Excited to share [working title] “Bitcoin’s Culture War and the Road to Mass Adoption” with you all in some form in the coming weeks. Stay tuned 👀

Cheers to the weekend #plebchain
I’ve been sober almost 4 years, but will have non-alcoholic beer. This NA Guinness is actually pretty good!

Vegan market’s in town and we got the goods 🤤
