Yes, I agree. My analogy to SMTP was along the lines of "simple, open standard, with problems, but addressed over time due to things like DKIM. It doesn't need to be perfect from the start. Problems are solved over time". That's what I was trying to convey.
It's a legitimate worry and I feel the same way. But email, in spite of all the spam and problems, is still widely used. Standards like DKIM, SPF, DMARC have mitigated those issues. I feel like nostr's path will be similar to SMTP as a protocol.
