I guess weโ€™ll see during the Senate hearings but so far Trump adminโ€™s picks for CDC, FDA and surgeon general seem like what I wouldโ€™ve expected from a Republican administration. So Iโ€™m not sure why they went with RFK Jr (for HHS) and Dr Oz (for CMS) when they are known for spreading medical misinformation seemingly for the purpose of monetization

Being able to accurately predict future hospitalizations and mortality can help determine better follow up treatment plans, palliative care referrals, etc.

Machine Learning-Based Prediction of Death and Hospitalization in Patients With Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator

The RF-SLAM algorithm accurately predicted all-cause mortality and death/HF hospitalization at 3 months and 1 year during the first 5 years of device implant, demonstrating good internal and external validity. Prospective studies and randomized trials are needed to evaluate model performance in other populations and settings and to determine its impact on patient outcomes.

Officials in blue states are vowing to build a โ€œfirewallโ€ of reproductive health protections as they anticipate federal and state attacks on abortion access under the Trump administration.

โ€œWeโ€™re going on offense,โ€ Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, a Democrat, told Stateline. โ€œWe are in an unprecedented war on American women and patients. State attorneys general, particularly my colleagues and I who support abortion rights and reproductive freedom, have been building this firewall for some time now.โ€

โ€œ North Carolina Republicans just voted to strip the state's incoming Democratic governor and attorney general of key powers โ€” passing a sweeping bill before the GOP most likely loses its veto-proof supermajority in the Legislature next year.โ€

Electronic health records are increasingly including technology-aided predictions of how patients may respond to specific medications, known as pharmacogenomic alerts. Two Mayo Clinic Ph.D. candidates are exploring how AI can be used to make these alerts more actionable and less intrusive for clinicians, who can suffer from alert overload.

This study found that clinicians generally prefer concise, individualized alerts that use patient-specific genomic data to help personalize their care, rather than more generic or detailed alerts.

With Gaetz dropping out, do Hegseth, RFK Jr. and Gabbard now have bigger targets on their backs from Republican senators?

Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, taking questions from reporters after Gaetz announced he was dropping out of consideration, was asked about the allegations against Hegseth. "It's a pretty big problem given that we have โ€ฆ a sexual assault problem in our military," Cramer said. The senator added he's "not going to prejudge," but that "it's a pretty concerning accusation."

Call your Republican senators to block RFK Jrโ€™s appointment, apparently some of them are having concerns about RFK Jr too. The U.S. Capitol switchboard can be reached at (202) 224-3121

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Tuesday acknowledged concerns about what Robert Kennedy Jr.โ€™s nomination as HHS secretary might mean for the U.S. food system, saying he wants to meet with him before any confirmation hearing.

Miscarrying patient was passed around 'like a hot potato' due to Idaho abortion ban, doctor testifies. A woman experiencing dangerous bleeding was not admitted by doctors at an Idaho hospital until her fourth emergency room visit in one week, due to fear and confusion over the state's abortion ban, an Idaho doctor said in testimony on Tuesday.
