The Trump Administration’s tariffs and crackdown on legal immigrants risk a return of 1970s-esque "stagflation", when a sudden oil shock prompted stagnant growth and prices spiraling up, except this time the crisis would be self-inflicted. The labour market is sending clearly worrisome signals. Job creation was almost non-existent in May and June, sluggish in July, and the ranks of discouraged workers are growing. 🇺🇸
Prices for hard-to-substitute, imported staples, like coffee and bananas, have already jumped. Forecasters expect price increases to widen in the months ahead, as firms sell down pre-tariff stock and raise prices, now that they have more confidence about what the tariff policies might be.🇺🇸

To avoid tariffs and trade war uncertainty, more companies are using U.S. Customs-sanctioned foreign trade zones (FTZs) and bonded warehouses, where products can be stored anywhere from years to indefinitely with the hopes that the Trump Administration’s tariffs will go away and companies won’t have to pay and then pass the cost of tariffs on to Americans. Given that the Trump Administration seems very attached to tariffs Americans are likely going to pay the price of tariffs over several years as goods come out of the bonded warehouses. 🇺🇸

U.S. producer prices increased by the most in three years in July amid a surge in the costs of goods and services, suggesting a broad pickup in inflation is imminent. July CPI data also showed inflation is steady, along with the recent poor jobs report it seems the US is headed for stagflation. 🇺🇸This leaves the Fed in a tough position because if they cut rates in September, Americans will face even higher prices on products in relation to inflation on top of higher prices from tariffs over the next few years. If the Fed doesn’t cut rates in September, the job market which was already declining from the current economic policies in place from the Trump Administration may get worse. 🇺🇸

Goldman Sachs economist warns Gen Z tech workers are first on the chopping block as generative AI shows signs of shaking up the labor market. It would make sense for Americans to save more money in the event that generative AI replaces their job and they have to retrain for a new job. It can be time consuming and expensive to retrain for a new job if you’re already making six figures and you have to find another career that will also pay six figures. Economic uncertainties from the Trump Administration’s tariffs and inflation are also playing a part in tech workers having trouble finding jobs. 🇺🇸

What to know about the upcoming Atlanta mayoral election 🇺🇸 Atlanta’s first-term mayor and former council member Andre Dickens shocked the city by emerging as the winner of a crowded and highly watched mayoral race in 2021. So far the 2025 mayoral race looks to be crowded as well, the mayor’s competitors are: Helmut Love, a consultant; Eddie Meredith, a community advocate; Marcus Lamar, a financial manager, Walter Reeves, a former candidate for mayor; Larmetria Trammell and Kalema Jackson. 🇺🇸

The full impact of the Trump Administration’s tariffs hasn’t started yet partly because manufacturers and retailers stocked up on foreign goods in February and March before the tariffs took effect and partly because many companies have been routing products through bonded warehouses where they can delay making tariff payments over several years and then pass the cost on to Americans over several years. 🇺🇸

Why is the Trump Administration asking for $65 billion for the Golden Dome defense system in the big beautiful bill? Is the Trump administration planning to bomb other countries and expecting those countries to retaliate against the United States? 🇺🇸 Will the Trump Administration accidentally instigate the United States into a nuclear war with other countries?

The Trump administration’s 2025 spending bill makes cuts to Medicaid for US citizens and US hospitals. Some hospitals, especially ones in Republican districts, may have to decrease the medical services they provide to US citizens or they may have to close altogether because of these cuts. 🇺🇸 Instead of cutting Medicaid for US citizens to save money, it would be better for Americans if Congress cut defense spending instead of increasing defense spending which is what they are currently planning to do.
Contact your Republican and Democrat members of Congress at 202-224-3121 to voice your concerns, more than 80% are up for reelection next year and should hear from concerned American citizens. 🇺🇸
