If that happens bitcoin is as good as over, the only value of a cryptocurrency is being independent and resistant to state intervention, if bitcoin proves to be controllable by governments then it's in essence no different from any fiat currency
Sure but how are nodes and miners supposed to do check all identities of all transactions? That's not gonna work at all, if anything the nodes and miners who comply with this will be creating a de-facto fork of bitcoin, there will be "nice" bitcoin and "not-nice" bitcoin
Elizabeth Warren Wants to Extend Bank Secrecy Act Regulations to Free & Open Source Software
The bill aims to extend Bank Secrecy Act requirements including know-your-customer rules to miners, validators, wallet providers and others.

How will that even work? I mean how are nodes and miners supposed to check people's identity if all they have is public keys and addresses of transactions? More interestingly, how is this supposed to work with say, Monero?
Uma que vi a galera elogiando tb é a Proton VPN, da mesma empresa do ProtonMail e aceita bitcoin, mas não cheguei a testar ainda
Prevejo VPN's comendo soltas daqui a algum tempo
Nostr and and other decentralized social media projects are bringing back the original libertarian feeling of the internet, where the power lies on individuals rather than on big corps or governments, and I love everything about it
Crazy how some people cannot sleep before winning an argument on social media to prove their "superiority", the more silly and useless the topic being argued over the harder they seem to try
Tipo o "cineasta" aqui do Brasil que só faz filme merda mas é rico porque ganha dinheiro do governo
Those people who are constantly sweating cold over bitcoins price certainly don't even understand it's proposal in the first place
How many times has bitcoin "died" so far this year according to the media?
"O que importa é que o amor venceu"
Esperamos que não venha todo politicamente correto
Damn now that we are talking about it I also remembered the good old days when you could still create and account anywhere without having to input half a Bible of personal data, one more point for Nostr 😅
I'm curious to see that too, but the fact that data is spread throughout several relays in different countries would make content very hard to remove even with judiciary action, also identifying the people posting it won't be easy thanks to the fact that nostr doesn't require any kind of identity data from users, but time will tell.
Bingo, it's crazy how I see way less toxicity here than on any traditional social media platform. Nostr kinda reminds me of Facebook's early days, lots of cool memes, people discussing stuff and having fun, no social justice warriors deciding who lives and dies, no obscure algorithms deciding what content I should be shown or not. I sincerely hope Nostr and similar projects keep on growing.
All debate is healthy, all topics have to be discussed. All ideas must be brought to light no matter how wrong or bad they might be, discussing bad ideas openly gives us a chance to prove them wrong, trying to suppress them creates echo chambers and breeds extremism
