is the best way around this simply to talk to more people, follow more accounts, make more frens, and post better content? i still feel sort of "new" here #introductions

and as i said, i'm reluctant to use hashtags as a general rule... (they often feel trendy-cringe/cliche, or like engagement farming). but in this case i'm hoping to expand my connections here, so screw it...

also, something sort of cool happened for me this week.

i took two RoboSats orders and purchased some satoshis from a prolific Nostr dev whom i have long admired. at least judging from his username on the fiat platform (and it's not a common name).

i didn't mention anything to him, out of respect for his privacy. didn't want to make him feel nervous/doxxed/anything like that (although i couldn't help but sign off with a "PV" and a 🤙.

anyway, first time that's happened, and then twice in a row. just thought this was very cool: as i understand it, it's still rare to encounter a nostrich in the wild.

i hang on Nostr a lot, but it's rare that i post here.

so, i wanted to take a moment to express my awe and appreciation for the people here.

the devs are building ingenius freedom tools. and fun features.

the plebs (including each unique individual here, side-by-side with many brilliant "large-following-on-twitter-but-here-just-one-of-us" writers and thinkers) all hang out together and manifest this free, funny, and open community.

i would not have expected that an online social space could ever actually regain the respectful, thoughtful, authentic nature of engagement that we've discovered and created here on Nostr.

it's a breath of fresh air, a sight for sore eyes, and i can't fully express how extraordinary this is. thank you - to every one of you.

It's an evolution thing - both Darwinian, and spiritual, I'd wager.

Example: the immediate physiological reward from sugar - we just discovered and consumed an intense and highly available form of energy. Good.

But that used to require sticking one's hand into a beehive, or cutting a hole in a maple tree and waiting (etc.), and so we never evolved to process large sugar intake in a healthy way.

Yet it's readily available, everywhere, always. The animal brain wants more. That's natural.

The spiritual (call it what you will) evolution requires disintangling one's action from those desires (and fears), to instead move from a place of self/mindfulness/balance.
