question that came up due to a situation with a friend:

as a dude, let’s say your female partner/wife has a male friend that constantly does things like pick her up from the airport without telling you and fixes things in your house without asking, tries to discipline your kid when you’re not around.

Is this disrespectful to the dude? I say obviously yes, she does not agree ?? I feel like i am taking crazy pills.

Moment of vulnerability here, wondering if anyone has had a similar experience before.

I completely LOST it on another person's kid today when I thought they had intentionally hurt my daughter, but I was wrong and now I feel horrible.

Context: on a road trip with another family. The other child has behavioral issues and has been known to get physical in the past with others at school and daycare. Over the course of the trip he's been pretty poorly behaved and aggressive but not downright violent... but I had it in the back of my mind that it could happen.

My daughter was playing with him in the other room, then suddenly runs out screaming, bleeding from the mouth and saying that he had hit her. I've never experienced anyone intentionally hurt my little girl and I instantly flew into protective dad mode before properly assessing the situation. In my mind he had punched her in the mouth.

I stormed into the room and flew into a rage, screaming at the absolute top of my lungs, pointing my finger in the kid's face saying to NEVER touch her EVER again. His mom was right behind me. He was likely terrified and I was honestly way beyond any level of anger I've ever felt.

In the next minute or two my daughter then clarified that it was an accident and they had been playing rough but had unintentionally slammed into each other.

The boy cried, his mom was in shock, and she also had tears in her eyes. I feel absolutely awful about the whole situation, I should have had more self control, and I'm a little in shock how quickly I became an absolute monster to a young kid.

I apologized in the moment to both of them and sent a message after saying I should have handled the situation better.

Just really upset about the whole thing, unsure how to proceed now. Any girl dads out there ever have this happen to them?

Today I was listening to one of my favorite macro podcasts talk about the Fed's meeting from yesterday. One of the best interviewers in the space, and one of his top interviewees.

And I couldn't finish it. So boring.

They were literally noting the tiniest details. The Fed's prepared statement didn't mention a rate cut in September. And then Fed chairman Powell's prepared press talk also didn't mention it. However, when asked about a September rate cut, he flipped to a page where he had a prepared statement indicating that yeah they're kind of leaning toward a September rate cut, and read it.

So they were like, "Huh! I wonder what the significance of that is. He had a prepared written statement about September, but only when asked!"

People literally judge the Fed chair's body language, facial movements, details like whether he has a prepared statement for a given question, etc. Omg.

For my work I need to note the basics of what the Fed said and all that, like the 3-minute summary of all that stuff. But the sheer excitement that these people had when discussing details like that for an hour was so banal. It seemed like satire.

Sometimes I run into a tech guy on Twitter, who talks about how cypherpunk he is.

I’m just a financial analyst and investor, so that’s cool to hear. The more cypherpunks, the better. I like to fund cypherpunks.

But then I look around, and he’s not active on Nostr for over a year. He’s only active on centralized social media.

So then I am confused at how supposedly cypherpunk he is. Is he really that reliant on centralized media? Often, it turns out yes. If not, what other cryptographic proof does he have for his work?

As Nostr increasingly gains network adoption, it becomes weirder when I analyze why someone who is techie is highly active on Twitter but not at all on Nostr.

Bitcoin Magazine and a large part of the Bitcoin community have completely lost the plot: praising Saylor, LARPing instead of using bitcoin, inviting Donald Trump to the Nashville conference... From wanting to get rid of central banks to bending the knee to cantillionaires. Sad!

I like how Nintendo systems from the 1990s could be put in a shed without air conditioning and survive for five years and still play games. Simple, optimized, robust engineering.

I like how cars from more than ten years ago just work, rather than being a nanny to you while you drive.

Cars, TVs, and all sorts of devices just whine today about problems. We’ve gone backward in some sense.

I’m willing to support brands that make more physical stuff. Already doing that with my next car choice.

That feeling when you embark upon a 25 mile bike ride and wipe out 100 yards in while crossing railroad tracks.

But I’m teaching the last class today for BTC Isla (before they officially graduate next week) and in the last chapter it talks about bitcoin being a revolution and how it its paving the way for a more equitable and decentralized future.

The word “equitable” keeps come back because how can it be equal if it rewards early adapters? And of those early adapters most if not all had access to a computer back in the early days.

It isn’t equal to those in poverty though, that have no such resources.

Why is it that the poor always get the short end of the stick?

What do I mean by that? Well the less you have the harder it is for you to succeed, yet the more you have, easier it is for you to reach the top.
