I need to read more Chesterton!

I've read Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton and The Everlasting Man and they were both good. Here's a link to his works on Project Gutenberg (free e-books!), and I will follow up with a few cool quotes from him that prompted this post:
"At least five times... the Faith has to all appearances gone to the dogs. In each of these five cases, it was the dog that died." G. K. Chesterton

Do you know off-hand which desktop/mobile apps allow you to preview your notes before you post them?
I just discovered that you can preview your post on Snort...

"When the government fears the people, there is liberty." Thomas Jefferson
I am sympathetic to the idea of parity, individuals being able to own any weapons the so-called government can own. "Governments" are just armed gangs.
"There is no art which one government sooner learns of another than that of draining money from the pockets of the people."
Adam Smith
The Wealth of Nations (1776)

You must not be paying attention. I see news of Devilcrat efforts to take and control guns all the time. Don't you hear the whining of the politicians after every mass shooting about how we need to ban assault rifles and so on?
And yet the sheep(le) keep voting and trusting in "democracy."
Was nothing learned from Orwell's "Animal Farm"?
Reminds me of a Tolstoy quote that I like:
"To a flock of sheep, the sheep who is every evening driven by the shepherd into a special pen to feed, and becomes twice as fat as the rest, must seem to be a genius."
Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace
This should be a daily reminder on Nostr. Until the message permeates society...
#TaxationIsTheft
Would you say this is a result of the free market, or collusion between corporations and government?
I know the U.S. is not a truly free market, but is this what a free market leads to?

Some interesting titles there! I've read the Art of War, and I just read finished reading The Prophet by Khalil Gibran yesterday. I love fairy tales as well, though I haven't read the Arabian Nights yet. I'm most familiar with the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. I've never heard of that KGB book; I'll be on the lookout for it now... Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I'm not sure we could say Judas was named for Judas Maccabeus. It's possible, but Judah was a common Jewish name at the time. Jesus even had a brother by that name, who wrote the biblical Epistle of Jude. And one of Jesus's other disciples was named Judas, who is always distinguished as being "not Iscariot."
I've seen a portrayal in some Jesus movie of Judas Iscariot trying to push Jesus to be a revolutionary, however. In a couple of the lists in the gospels of Jesus's 12 apostles Judas Iscariot is mentioned together beside Simon the Zealot. It may have been that when Jesus sent them out in pairs to preach those two were partners. The Zealots wear Jewish revolutionaries who opposed the Roman occupation of Judea, as well as taxation, and their idolatry, etc. Being a libertarian/anarchist myself, I'm happy to see Jesus had a disciple with views like this! π
No king but King Jesus!
