1. Good to see fairly large flocks of sparrows near my home.

2. Fluffy dog: she is so tolerant and friendly. Three children made a big fuss of her today, they had recently lost their long haired GSD aged 12, and wanted to cuddle Fluffy dog. Sensibly they asked first if it was ok. Not all dogs appreciate cuddles as much as she does, but it made the children very happy.

3. Had a text from a friend who I've not seen in a while and we arranged to meet up.

1. A good walk in the hills.

2. A small herd of horses lives free on the hills. A grey with a full white mane, raced through the bracken to the top of the hill, neighing at full volume. His companions looked on in amazement. Eventually, he stopped and returned to the herd, but it had been wonderful to see his excitement in his race to the top.

3. Lunch on the way back down in a lovely garden.

1. Used one of the patty pan squashes, picked yesterday, for lunch today. I stuffed it with beans, onion, tomatoes, spices and herbs.

2. Cats all avoided today's heavy showers, they decided it was a comfy bed day.

3. Some sunny intervals forecast for tomorrow, a chance for a walk in the Welsh hills.

No thunder, just very heavy rain followed by strong winds. The grey cat was a stray and we adopted him. He never gets lost, but the farmer is busy harvesting and mice are around in plenty. So the little grey cat was out and about! Usually he is under my feet and wanting cuddles, so it was worrying, but we found him in the end.

3. Found the grey cat who had walked out of his territory, and got disoriented by the weather. He is back, fed and dry now.

I had a text from my GP's surgery to book my flu jab for early Autumn. So I 'phoned them, and asked if we were also to be offered a covid vaccination this year. The response: 'We are waiting for government guidelines'. Not NHS guidelines but 'government'. I despair.

2. Friend came round for tea and flapjacks this afternoon.

1. Friend's operation went well.

2. Cats did not fight but played an elaborate dodging game. They shared the patio but maintained their social distance. Quite amusing to watch. They are trying to be good!
