This is the book I was speaking about. The book is named wit the short Dostoyevsky’a short story (Marey the Peasant) but it includes various authors like

* Tolstoy
* Singer (Issac Beshavis) 
The book title is “Marey enum Kudiyanavan” (Tamil) - meaning “Marey the Peasant” commemorating Dostoyevsky’s 200th anniversary. Translator M.A.Suseela’s effort to compile a few famous authors short stories resulted in the creation of this book.
