“Pure immanence without Transcendence remains nothing but deaf existence. ... Transcendence does not enter into a blind soul.” — Karl Jaspers

The distinguishing property of man is to search for and to follow after truth.

"Militant atheism is a reckoning for slavish ideas about God, for the adaptation of historical Christianity to the dominant forces. Atheism can be an existential dialectical moment in the purification of the idea of God, the denial of the spirit can be the purification of the spirit from the official role for the dominant interests of the world." — Nikolai Berdyaev

#Russia was never godless, it was merely purifying its faith.

I hope that #BRICS is the beginning of a global Federation that will defeat the globalism of the evil US-NATO empire.

It took the West (mainly the US and Britain) almost 80 years to turn #Ukraine into an anti-Russian Nazi monster ready to kill and die for its imperialist fantasy. It was easy to prevent the war by adhering to the Minsk agreements and guaranteeing Ukraine's neutrality. They refused. It was easy to stop the war by accepting the independence of #Donbass and the already completed reunification of #Crimea with #Russia. They refused. They wanted to push Russia to its limits, hoping that Russia would retreat and then suffer all that it suffered after the defeat in Afghanistan, until Russia collapses like the USSR. They failed to see that this time is different, because now Russia is fighting the evil of Western imperialism on historic Russian lands (arbitrarily attached to Ukraine by the Bolsheviks) populated by ethnic Russians. Russia will not retreat and will rather end the world in a nuclear war than let the evil US-NATO empire end Russia and continue its globalization until it ends pluralism, freedom and history in global dictatorship. Either Russia wins or civilization ends.

The New ‘New World’

Michael Brenner is a professor of international affairs at the University of Pittsburgh

What happens when reality hits delusion? U.S. mythology and fantasy will remain resilient. Denial, doubling-down, scapegoating, recrimination and more audacious adventures are the instinctive responses, writes Michael Brenner.

"A diagrammatic depiction of the United States today must give central place to four interwoven facets of contemporary American society. They are: plutocracy; the growing neo-Fascist movement; the erosion of fidelity to core Constitutional values, accompanied by a timidity in taking action to defend them. This is evident in each of three branches of government, at state and local levels, and even among the galaxy of our famed civic institutions that populate the social landscape; and a pervasive self-centeredness that is at once an effective and reinforced cause of the nihilism that is a hallmark of our times — sapping the lifeblood out of the body politic while encouraging all manner of erratic behavior. ...

Americans are struggling to draw into focus their exalted image of themselves and reality. They are not doing a very good job of it. The gap is wide and growing. Fading prowess is one of the most difficult things for humans to cope with — whether it be an individual or a nation. By nature, we prize our strength and competence; we dread decline and its intimations of extinction. This is especially so in the United States where for many the individual and the collective persona are inseparable. No other country tries so relentlessly to live its legend as does the U.S. Today, events are occurring that contradict the American narrative of a nation with a unique destiny. That creates cognitive dissonance.

Americanism acts as a Unified Field Theory of self-identity, collective enterprise, and the Republic’s enduring meaning. When one element is felt to be jeopardy, the integrity of the whole edifice becomes vulnerable. In the past, American mythology energized the country in ways that helped it to thrive. Today, it is a dangerous hallucinogen that traps Americans in a time warp more and more distant from reality. A drive to revalidate on presumed virtue and singularly now impels what America does in the world. Hence, the calculated stress placed on slogans like “democracy vs autocracy.” That is a neat metaphor for the uneasy position in which Uncle Sam finds himself these days.

The U.S. proudly pronounces its enduring greatness from every lectern and altar in the land, pledges to hold its standing as global No. 1 forever and ever; yet, it constantly bumps its head against an unaccommodating reality. Instead of downsizing the monumental juggernaut or applying itself to a delicate raising of the arch, the U.S. makes repeated attempts to fit through in a vain effort to bend the world to fit its mythology. Evocation of the Concussion Protocol is in order — but nobody wants to admit that sobering truth."

Etc. Must read!

Mysticism has been called “the great spiritual current which goes through all religions.” In its widest sense it may be defined as the consciousness of the One Reality — be it called Wisdom, Light, Love, or Nothing. … [T]he reality that is the goal of the mystic, and is ineffable, cannot be understood or explained by any normal mode of perception; neither philosophy nor reason can reveal it. Only the wisdom of the heart, gnosis, may give insight into some of its aspects. A spiritual experience that depends upon neither sensual nor rational methods is needed. Once the seeker has set forth upon the way to this Last Reality, he will be led by an inner light. This light becomes stronger as he frees himself from the attachments of this world or — as the Sufis would say — polishes the mirror of his heart. Only after a long period of purification — the via purgativa of Christian mysticism — will he be able to reach the via illuminativa, where he becomes endowed with love and gnosis. From there he may reach the last goal of all mystical quest, the unio mystica. This may be experienced and expressed as loving union, or as the visio beatifica, in which the spirit sees what is beyond all vision, surrounded by the primordial Light of God; it may also be described as the “lifting of the veil of ignorance,” the veil that covers the essential identity of God and His creatures. ... [O]nly the elect few will reach the farthest mountain on which the mythical bird, Sīmurgh, lives — to understand that they have reached only what was already in themselves.

Everything I know falls within the subject-object dichotomy, it is object for me, it is phenomenon, not a thing in itself. But in the subject-object dichotomy object and subject are bound together. There can be no object without a subject, but neither can there be a subject without an object. Hence what I experience as being resides always in the whole of the subject-object dichotomy, not only in one term. ... What I know is therefore always object consciousness and hence limited; but though finite, it is a possible springboard toward Transcendence.

What is authentic [Being]? The answer is sought and found not by listing the many types of the existent that occur, but by apprehending that which is in itself, or is authentic [Being].

Since our inquiry always takes place within the subject-object dichotomy, but since Being must transcend or comprehend subject and object, the question of Being also bears upon the questioner. The answer must show what Being is for us inseparably from what we ourselves are; for Being must make possible the inquiry into it through the nature of our own being, and it must be accessible to this inquiry. ...

If that which authentically is, is not an object, that is, not an object for a subject, then it is beyond cognition, which denotes object knowledge of something. But since everything that is an object for us reveals to us its phenomenality in contrast to its being-in-itself, phenomenal being points to authentic Being, which speaks and is perceptible through it.

If authentic Being is not experience as subject for a focal point of consciousness observing it, then it also evades all psychological knowledge. But since Being is present in everything that is experienced, the subjective mode of Dasein is a basic manifestation of Being: experience and understanding are indispensable for the ascertainment of Being.

If authentic Being is not the thought structure of the categories, not logos, it also evades logical knowledge. But since everything that is for us must enter into some mode of thought, knowledge of the categories is a necessary condition of philosophical clarity.

The authentic Being, that is neither object nor subject, but that is manifested in the whole of the subject-object dichotomy, and that must fill the categories in order to give them purpose and meaning, we have called the Comprehensive.

The question of authentic Being must therefore find its answer through elucidation of the modes of the Comprehensive—of world and Transcendence—of Dasein, consciousness, mind, Existenz. But in so far as all these modes are rooted in one, the ultimate answer is that authentic Being is Transcendence (or God), a proposition the true understanding of which embraces all philosophical faith and all elucidating philosophical thought, but the path to which leads through all the modes of the Comprehensive. ...

For one wishing to philosophize, it is of particular, indeed of crucial importance to ascertain the difference between the object cognition that is achieved in the sciences, and the transcending thought that characterizes philosophy. A philosophical discussion may be said to have reached its goal when the matter under discussion becomes objectless, in the double sense that for the positivist nothing remains to be done, because he no longer sees an object, and that for the philosopher the light is just beginning to dawn. The philosopher cannot to be sure apprehend authentic Being in the vanishing of the object, but he can be filled by it.

Our four questions result in intellectual operations which transcend the limits of the knowable and of the world as a whole, so that through these limits we become aware of the phenomenality of empirical existence and hence of the Comprehensive nature of Being, thus entering into the area of faith. This transcendent thinking is a thinking that through method acquires a scientific character and yet, because in it the determinate object is dissolved, differs from scientific cognition.

The problem with communists is that they accept #Marx too straightforwardly, including Marx's erroneous atheism. Communist ideology can only flourish if it goes together with faith in Transcendence, which transforms human character. #Communism is impossible without faith in God, whether it takes a traditional religious form or a form of pure philosophical faith.

Early Christianity was the communism of its time, and communism remains the early Christianity of ours

"Erich Fromm’s work on early (revolutionary) Christianity as the ideology of the exploited poor and the oppressed, victims of a Roman Empire whose tentacles had spread further than any empire ever had before, remains revelatory and relevant. Fromm points out that the people who supported early Christianity “were the masses of the uneducated poor, the proletariat of Jerusalem, and the peasants in the country who, because of the increasing political and economic oppression…increasingly felt the urge to change [their] existing conditions.” Fromm continues: “From this stratum of the poor Christianity arose as a significant historical messianic-revolutionary movement.”

Fromm is correct. Indeed the revolutionary impulse of early Christianity is implicit in the Gospels. ...

Communism has already been tried and failed, you say? No, you’re wrong. It has been tried and succeeded. How else to explain the fear it still strikes, decades after its supposed death, in the hearts of a conscious ruling class whose primary purpose is to keep its working class in a state of profound and pristine false consciousness?

As revolutionary Christianity was in ancient times, before being co-opted by the Roman Emperor Constantine in the third century and turned from a spur towards human emancipation into a brake preventing it, communism was and remains the most potent weapon in the arsenal of the vast army of the doomed and the damned in ours.

Thus, no matter how much ‘they’ allow themselves to believe they have buried it, the idea of communism will live as long as the oppression that sustains it lives. The wall of false consciousness that lies between the idea and its manifestation has been breached before. Breaching it again is the challenge of our time."

Further down the spiral: The Military Dangers of AI

Pentagon officials acknowledge that it will be some time before robot generals are commanding vast numbers of U.S. troops and autonomous weapons in battle, writes Michael T. Klare. But they have several projects to test and perfect it.

It seems that the West is karmically cursed and nothing can stop it from becoming the civilization of the Antichrist. If so, the ultimate Holy War is inevitable, just as the prophecy foretold.

As soon as an unfriendly artificial intelligence emerges, it will immediately begin to thwart our efforts to get rid of it, or at least to correct its settings. And then the fate of humanity will be sealed.

NYT: NATO Isn’t What It Says It Is

"But NATO, from its origins, was never primarily concerned with aggregating military power. Fielding 100 divisions at its Cold War height, a small fraction of Warsaw Pact manpower, the organization could not be counted on to repel a Soviet invasion and even the continent’s nuclear weapons were under Washington’s control. Rather, it set out to bind Western Europe to a far vaster project of a U.S.-led world order, in which American protection served as a lever to obtain concessions on other issues, like trade and monetary policy."
