For example, here's what one said "Subscriptions to this relay are valid for 2016 blocks (maybe more)."
I love that Primal shows my most popular posts when I visit my profile. Anything that can be done to re-orient the new user who is checking back in after a few weeks is highly welcome.
A couple months ago I paid for some relays but since then I've let the subscription lapse. I see this in my DMs since some of these send a sort of receipt or "intro to our relay" type message but given that I connected with these months ago, it'd be helpful to have better context on the situation. Props to Nostr.wine for putting quite a bit of information in DM.
I suppose some of this will be figured out as a unified interface in the client, with near automatic payment to keep up some of these relays. I guess for now I just want to tell those who are running paid relays to help users out by sending a receipt showing date, period for which payment was, sats paid, then a summary of how much data was sent/recieved. I'm not sure the relays software supports all this but more clarity is good.
The end result of my experiment was that paying for relays wasn't worth it except as a donation to help support costs. I didn't see any benefits in particular and perhaps this is another thing that clients can help with. A little star on a note that you only got through a single paid relay.
I'm going to go through and renew these to support the concept but I'm looking forward to there being more clarity and tangible benefits going forward.
In a world where bits travel at light speed, and pics can reach millions in seconds, please allow up to 14 days for mailing list preferences to be updated. Maybe.
Not very many people read books anymore. So why do you still?
For me art is beautiful, thought-provoking, a mirror that draws you in with one thing and inspires another. It can comfort with a familiar pattern or make you aware of a new one. It doesn't hit you over the head with a message so much as summon some truth that already exists in your subconscious. Art is where to turn when things are too simple or boring and need some spice.

Thanks for sharing this, anything surprising for an average Android user?
Is Nostr sentient? If not, how can we make it so?
Its fun hearing nostr get shredded for decent reasons. https://fountain.fm/episode/Bl5zcvDXKyUgyUYdAori
Does your node have many connections? You could attempt to broadcast via Coinb.in
I fail to see the difference between this "offering" and a usd balance. There's no way you can custody this yourself.
2021 saw near $60k. Broad inflation hasn't been that bad over 4 years but one could possibly make your case with something that saw a bubble along with many things in 2021.
I get the sense that my view of Nostr is centered on east coast US time. I know for emails campaigns, Tuesday like 11am EST is the best time to catch the most people, but how is it for music? Same, more skewed toward weekend early evenings or daytime?
Bitcoin isn't really a replacement for the state. Hopefully it takes away from the state the ability to monetize debt and thereby discourages extended deficit spending, but so much is uncertain with AI, with surveillance tech, and corporations who seem to have gained the upper hand versus states in the past several decades.
Looks cool, hope to see more!
Here is a sampling of failure messages from different #Lightning wallets when attempting to pay an already paid invoice.
Notice how all of them display a different message, but none of them say that the invoice has or may have already been paid.
This is a confusing experience for new users, and it seems to come up repeatedly when someone posts an invoice in a note.
Iβm throwing this challenge out to developers to find a way to improve this.

These messages are confusing but perhaps we're trying to encourage the wrong behavior. Traditionally an invoice is not shared publicly but shared with one person or org that is meant to pay it.
We already have zaps that work great when many wish to contribute to somebody. Perhaps the best course of action is to remove invoices from prominent kinds of posts.
