I understand why some people don’t think you should eat animals at all. I don’t agree with them but I understand the logic. What I don’t understand are the people who think you should only eat dumb animals.

You won’t eat octopus or dog, but chickens are fine? What about pigs? Jules said if it a pig had a better personality it would cease to be a filthy fucking animal.

It’s a lot to think about.

Look at this crazy photo from Libya’s flooding. It’s terrible. But I couldn’t help notice the two dudes checking under the hood of the demolished car like they were checking so see if maybe the battery was just dead.

Most likely scavenging, but still. Of all the things.

There is a dog groomer across the street from me. When I’m sitting out back, such as today, I hear a constant parade of baby talk as the people pick up their dogs. It’s astounding how people talk to pets.

They tell parents of addicts that until you have given your child up for dead, you have no way of helping them. That’s not exactly how they say it, but it’s pretty damn close. Addicts have three options, they tell us. Get clean, become institutionalized, or die. There are no other options and the longer we allow them to push off the inevitable, the more likely they are to end up dead, in jail, or in a mental institution. It’s untenable.

This is different than using something like Grammarly that is design to help you proof your work. Even that you have to take with a grain of salt.

I’m having this wonderful day but of course something has to ruin it. There are black houseflies all over just being annoying. It’s like a last gasp because it’s cool, so they’re all flocking to the sunlight.

There really is something to the black fly in your Chardonnay. Whatever else is going right, something will come along to fuck it up.

It’s been a rough morning.

Severe thunderstorm from 4am-5am woke me up. Then I woke again to find the breaker that controls the water and the sump had flipped off, cutting off our water and flooding part of the basement. Fixed that. Went back upstairs to make coffee and managed to dump a full container of freshly ground coffee all over a dish rack of clean dishes. Cleaned that up. Made coffee.

We’re either going to turn this around today or that’s just a preview of coming attractions.

Players often keep game balls from significant plays or games. Sometimes they have to bribe a fan to give it back to them. I wonder if those players just want them for their collection or because they know they can just sell it themselves.
