Apparently, this was in 2022. Additionally, let’s remind ourselves that this occurred in one of the “wealthiest” 100 square miles on earth.

I don't see a problem here. 💪

Heard on the radio this morning that nearly 25% of Washington DC residents received SNAP benefits.

Thought about this again today, because I’m getting ready to head to the bank.

Twice yearly, I purchase some raw materials from overseas. To do that, I must walk to the bank for a scheduled appointment, inform the teller of the purpose of my purchase, give them all the remittance details, and they must record my state ID (driver's license).

Then, I wait as the clerk enters the data manually into her FedWire (or whatever it is) portal. She then places a phone call, and relays that same information to someone else. 15-20 minutes later, I am on my way back to the office with a paper confirmation in hand.

The transaction is typically ~$16,000, and I pay $60 in fees to the bank. I don't know what my vendor, the recipient of the funds, pays.

I then email my vendor that the purchase has been made, and they trust me for 3-5 business days while we wait for the settlement to take place.

Would your vote weight change with the zap value?

Thanks for being there - popped in for a sec. Also on iOS, and Safari crashed when I went to the nest.

“I say this without fear of contradiction: if a democratic republic like the one in the United States were ever to be established in a country where autocratic rule had already introduced administrative centralization, and where both custom and law had absorbed its influence, that country would come to know a despotism more intolerable than any that has ever existed in Europe’s absolute monarchies. To discover anything comparable one would have to look to Asia.”

-Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America, Vol. 1, Pt. II, Ch. 8, p. 302. c. 1835-1840. Translated by Arthur Goldhammer

Lol. Can’t blame ya. Probably wouldn’t have been enough to make the minimum withdrawal.
