With the rise of really good transcription models, TTS that’s actually enjoyable to listen to, and LLMs that can carry a conversation and understand complex commands, why haven’t we seen an explosion of really good voice interfaces?
It seems obvious to me but I’ve only seen Apple making a serious attempt with the latest Siri update. There are so many times that I’m doing something with my hands, driving, etc. and wish I could give commands to my RSS reader or just chat with an LLM that has the Arxiv and Wikipedia connected with RAG.
Keep Nostr wyrd.
Exactly. Those warehouses of NVIDIA chips are only getting larger and more power hungry.
I love reading the original Brothers Grimm stories. They’re incredibly, nasty, brutish, and short. They paint a picture of a Hobbesian world where stories fairytales don’t always have fairytale endings, the bad guys sometimes win, and the story doesn’t have to have a point or pithy moral truth.
They break your brain a little because you unconsciously search every fairytale for some meaning or moral. Every time a hero gets three wishes you expect all three will be used and the third will probably have a twist. If a gun is introduced in the first act you expect it to be fired at some point.
The old fairytales don’t do this though. Sometimes there’s no meaning, they only use one or two wishes because that’s all the story required, and someone just gave them a sick sword that has no purpose.
Sweet! You don’t even need Israel to plant a bomb in your phone, the Samsung phones just explode on their own when you plug them in!
Life is a mad lib.

You’ve heard of Tim Apple, but get ready for your newest tech billionaire Leon Musk.
Yes. Wind and solar suck. Nuclear is in another league.
nostr:npub18fuceddpkztv6rudrl7e87h7xpkc3vnnzkwx4vvrlh8ggnzlld2sd79ms9 can probaly attest to this.
Thanks for mentioning him! I just gave him a follow. Looks like he beat me to the story by a few hours.
The Three Mile Island plant could reopen soon! Microsoft is following Amazon’s lead and is running their own nuclear power plant. Yet another win for nuclear power.
Interesting that when private money is on the line companies are opting for nuclear reactors rather than solar or wind 🤔.
Same with the 1950s and 60s. Reading about political parties switching is always fascinating and it’s weird to see it happening in my lifetime. The most entertaining part is watching people who have always been a member of one political party pretending that they’ve suddenly been believing something the whole time.
I know, I would have guessed that considering his comments about being a “black Nazi” he would have blamed the Jews but it looks like he took the high tech route.
Oh he’s getting shamed alright. Looks like he’s responded by blaming everything on a conspiracy with “AI” against him.
Sooo, maybe don’t use the same username on Twitter and porn websites? And if you’re running for governor you might consider scrubbing your old Nazi posts. Food for thought.
I haven't noticed anything particularly fascist about the column layout and I don't have a Windows machine, but you did nail the desktop Nostr client
Betting on your beliefs is a great way to see how well calibrated to reality you are and keep a record of your beliefs. It's easy to forget all the mistakes you've made, but bets help you remember those mistakes and learn from them. It doesn't even have to be real money, you could also use Manifold or Metaculus to accomplish the same end.
Even though it's not super practical, playing around with controlling your phone by eye tracking still feels sci-fi and futuristic.
This is your reminder that most people aren't interested in using Nostr to watch everyone navel gaze about Nostr. They want to see whetever they're personally interested in, whether that be breaking news, interesting/entertaining people, politics, or celebrities.
True, definitely on overnight flights as well when you're trying to stay awake so you can get on the time zone.
The attack wasn't really a specific attack against walkie-talkies. You can plant a bomb in literally anything, Israel just happened to put them in walkie-talkies, pagers, and possibly solar panels. The possibility of putting a bomb in something isn't new, and neither is putting a bomb into a communication device (Israel has done that since the 1990s).
I would hope that governments have always thought about security for military equipment. If governments are only now realizing that a foreign power could tamper with their equipment something is seriously wrong, especially since the U. S. has been tampering with other countries electronics for decades with Stuxnet and has run multiple fake companies (Anom, Crypto AG) that tampered with encryption to access state secrets.
Currently trying out Lume on the desktop. Pretty solid client. There are a few things (like clicking on a profile in a reply that don't seem to be available yet but otherwise seeing multiple columns is a great layout.
Before everyone starts throwing away all their batteries, it was explosives in the pagers going off not the batteries.
