10 September 1894 | A Czech Jewish woman, Ida Pirnerová, was born in Český Brod.
She was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt ghetto on 15 December 1943. She did not survive.

10 September 1930 | An Italian Jewish woman, Liliana Segre, was born in Milan.
In January 1944, she was deported to #Auschwitz with her father Alberto who perished in the camp in April 1944.
Liliana survived. Today, she is a Senator for life in #Italy and turns 95.


10 September 1925 | A Polish Jew, Hersz Nejman, was born in Raciąż. He emigrated to Belgium.
On 26 August 1942 he was deported to #Auschwitz from Mechelen / Malines. He did not survive.

10 September 1897 | A Pole, Władysław Prauss, was born in Warsaw. A lawyer.
In #Auschwitz from 14 April 1942.

8 August 1865 | Dutch Jew, Hartog Doof, was born in Amsterdam. He emigrated to Belgium.
He was deported to #Auschwitz from Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen on 18 September 1942. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

7 August 1938 | A Dutch Jewish boy, Jacob Vischjager, was born in Amsterdam.
In November 1942 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered after selection in a gas chamber.

7 August 1942 | A transport of 1014 Jews deported from Beaune-la-Rolande in occupied France arrived at #Auschwitz: 588 men and boys and 426 women and girls.
After arrival selection made by SS doctors, 214 men and 96 women were registered in the camp. Of these, five men and one woman survived the war.
The remaining 704 people were murdered immediately in the gas chambers. Among them was Chaja Krebs who was born in Jarosław.

7 August 1866 | Italian Jewish woman, Adele Basevi, was born in Brescia.
She was deported to #Auschwitz from Milan on 30 January 1944. She was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

4 August 1884 | German Jewish woman, Agnes Scholl (nee Eissler), was born in Wiesenbach. She emigrated to Belgium.
She was deported to #Auschwitz from Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen on 15 January 1944. She was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

1 August 1915 | A Polish Jewish woman, Fradja Azous, was born in Warsaw. She emigrated to France.
In September 1942 she was deported from Pithiviers to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

26 July 1927 | A French Jewish girl, Fanny Brauch, was born in Paris.
In August 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

17 July 1944 | Jane Haining, a Church of Scotland missionary in Budapest perished in the German Nazi Auschwitz camp.
Her last message to friends was a postcard asking for food. She ended her letter with the words: “There is not much to report here on the way to heaven.”
Jane Haining (b. 1897) was arrested in Budapest by the Gestapo and deported to Auschwitz. On 14 May 1944, she was registered in the camp as prisoner 79467.
She was recognized by the Yad Vashem as Righteous Among the Nations.

17 July 1932 | Jewish boy, Maximilian Ullmann, was born in Stuttgart. Son of an Austrian Jewish composer Viktor Ullmann.
He was deported to #Auschwitz from Theresienstadt ghetto on 23 October 1944. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

15 July 1937 | A French Jewish girl, Jeannette Rotbaum, was born in Paris.
In August 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

14 July 1872 | A Polish Jew, Szulim Fajgenblat, was born in Będzin.
In 1942 he was deported from Będzin ghetto to #Auschwitz and was murdered in a gas chamber.

12 July 1919 | A German Jew, Kurt Bachrach, was born in Schwalenberg. He emigrated to The Netherlands.
He was most probably deported to #Auschwitz in 1943. He did not survive.

10 July 1902 | Russian Jewish woman Tsipa Gast was born in Chernigov. She emigrated to France.
In July 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz from Drancy with her husband Mozes (Moshe). They did not survive.

8 July 1942 | Probably the first time a public execution by hanging took place in #Auschwitz.
Two Polish prisoners: Tadeusz Pejsik (12549) and Henryk Pajączkowski (22867) were murdered. They had been captured after the escape from the penal company on 10 June 1942.

6 July 1912 | A Czech, František Slezak, was born in Olešnice. A worker.
In #Auschwitz from 20 May 1942.

30 June 1942 | 400 Slovak Jews transferred from Majdanek camp were registered in #Auschwitz.
Among them was Rudolf Vrba (in the camp as Walter Rosenberg, no. 44070). He escaped on 7 April 1944 with Alfred Wetzler. Co-author of a report about extermination of Jews in the camp.

30 June 1944 | A transport of some 1,000 Jews - men, women & children from Fossoli di Carpi camp in occupied #Italy arrived at the selection platform at #Auschwitz II-Birkenau. SS doctors during the selection sent 180 men & 50 women to the camp. The remaining were murdered in a gas chamber.
On the same day a transport of 2,044 Jews from #Athens & #Korfu Island arrived. SS doctors sent 446 men & 175 women to the camp. The remaining 1,423 people were murdered in a gas chamber.
30 June 1928 | A Hungarian Jewish girl, Elizke Hantala Szabo, was born.
In 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

28 June 1910 | Italian Jewish woman, Elda Colombo, was born in Turin.
She was deported to #Auschwitz from Milan on 30 January 1944. She did not survive.

25 June 1928 | German Jewish girl, Ruth Marion Weile, was born in Magdeburg. She emigrated to the Netherlands.
In September 1943 she was deported from Westerbork to #Auschwitz. She did not survive.

18 June 1936 | German Jewish girl, Ursula Gerson, was born in Munich. She emigrated to the Netherlands in June 1939.
She arrived at #Auschwitz on 5 September 1944 in a transport of 1,019 Jews deported from #Westerbork. She was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

17 June 1856 | Dutch Jewish woman, Rachel Kiek-van Amerongen, was born in Amsterdam.
In August 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber immediately after arrival selection.

17 June 1896 | A Polish man, Jan Andrzejak, was born in Chodybki. A blacksmith.

17 June 1943 | SS-Hauptsturmführer Josef Mengele officially began his duties as a camp doctor within the Auschwitz camp garrison (Lagerarzt).
He was responsible for criminal pseudo-medical experiments on Roma and Sinti prisoners, as well as twins, mainly Jewish.
