Where’s the bed? Behind the photographer in the main room?

The truth is much simpler. Namely, that this thing we call wokeness, while it might present itself as progressive and left-wing, is really just bigoted, reactionary ideas about race, gender and sexuality, dolled up for the 21st century. All those accusations of racism, homophobia and misogyny, flung by identitarians with increasing abandon over recent years, were just one big, wailing act of projection.
The wokesters may not realise it, but in the fight for a truly anti-racist, egalitarian society they are firmly on the wrong side. The side that mourns the demise of racial discrimination in universities and campaigns tooth and nail to get gay-rights groups shut down. Whatever we might want to call these people, ‘progressive’ really isn’t it.
Busy couple of days, so belated garden update.
I’ve taken advantage of the change in the weather to plant out some squash plants, adding next to them a tetrapak with holes made in it along the side facing the plant, which supposedly makes deep watering easier.
You can also see the difference between my indoor, lovingly tended, started-under-lights-at-the-start-of-April runner beans and the ones where I just plonked some seeds in at the same time as I planted them out. I think I’ll be direct sowing my rubber beans in future, here.
Similarly with the peas: 6-9 o’clock were lovingly nurtured from early March and planted out mid-April, 9-12 late March / mid-April, 12-3 were direct sown mid-April and 3-6 late May. What I’ve harvested so far were from the first two batches, but the first one in particular is never going to produce enough to justify the space / effort.
My broadbeans (fava)… no picture, too depressing. They were starting to get blackfly, as they do, so I made up a washing up liquid (dish soap) spray, as you do, and two days later the leaves were covered in black streaks. I’m not sure if the very hot sun or the fact that I used blue Fairy (antibacterial) is the problem, but I’m hoping they will manage to put on new growth. The blackfly are gone, so yay for that?

Bless him, he’s so dumb that he mostly just gets sad that he can’t walk through doorways without help.
He’s fine, but he’s a chewer so without it he’ll turn the tiny sore on his toe into an inch-wide open wound in a day or two.
Desolation:

Bakers beware:
Lurpak is now 200g not 250g.
Me: Oh, look! It’s stopped snowing and the radar says no more for half an hour at least! I’ll have another go at taking Dog out.
