The Fifth Element (1997)

https://archive.org/download/TheFifthElement_201405/The%20Fifth%20Element.mp4

Director: Luc Besson

New York cab driver Korben Dallas didn't mean to be a hero, but he just picked up the kind of fare that only comes along every five thousand years: A perfect beauty, a perfect being, a perfect weapon. Now, together, they must save the world. Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, and Gary Oldman star in acclaimed director Luc Besson's outrageous sci-fi adventure, an extravagantly styled tale of good against evil set in an unbelievable twenty-third century world.

The opera singer is my favorite part.

Well that and Gary Oldman's performance.

Exactly. Small steps. If you've got something that seems insurmountable don't look up at where you're heading. That can feel overwhelming. Look down at the ground in front of you. If you have to look anywhere else, look at the distance you've already come. One step at a time. By the time you know it, you're cresting the top of the mountain and you've achieved success.

This is very true.

In my practice, I frequently see consistent patterns of thinking and behavior that cause distress in people. Repeated cycles that end the same way every time. Like people are caught in endless loops. They say they want it to end. They ask, how do I stop feeling this way? or how do I get through this tough spot in my life? People are looking for an easy answer. They want a simple tip, trick, or a pill that takes all their distress away. Something that will give instant relief with no work or effort on their part. They want the reward but aren't willing to put in the work.

The real answer is much less appealing than that. Consistent hard work and wanting that change more than anything. Every day. You have to want to feel differently, you have to want to change and grow and you have to work every day to do it. You have to see the goal clearly in your head and drive toward it. When you stumble, you have to get up and keep going again. If not, nothing will change. There is no quick fix. It's hard work and perseverance.
