This protocol is not just like twitter, it can be Instagram, Facebook, linked inn and anything else we can imagine. It is an open source technology that anyone can post to without permission or censorship. Someone could build a front end that makes the incoming posts look like a Facebook interface, another that makes it look like an Instagram interface. And the relays that pass this info back and forth can act as filters. So if you wanted to have an insta interface that only ever received Bitcoin memes from around the world that could be made, you are not limited by your ability to find and follow accounts you like. Filters can deliver that to you. But filters you subscribe too, not ones that are forced upon you.
I am not the best to explain what nostr is but just responding to what kinds of things can be accomplished. Please excuse my limited imagination in thinking of different uses for the protocol.
There are between 500,000-2,000,000 on nostr at this point. Just a guess based on recent data.
Anyone out there, please correct my many errors in explaining and providing data or examples. I am only a pleb.
