How is the big elephant in the nostr room tackled - the expensive rich media content hosting?
Before this is solved there’s no mass influx of people familiar with regular social media. Pics are cute but videos are the norm.
P2P, self-hosting on your G, One or Apple drive or something else?
nostr has a very few big relays and some of the clients are “centralised” in the backend.
Understandable at this stage of the ecosystem development but it can tilt the direction as the path of least resistance.
What are the weak points from centralisation point of view?
Cannot help but see the “firehose” servers as the real issues. If things are blocked at that level the downstream does not matter.

How’s it on nostr?
🤔

#[0] brought up a good point about micro interactions. When you see them, it just makes for such a pleasant experience 🤩
This could be one way to give nostr clients a special touch.
The simple one would be a birthday animation (would require a field). Not everyone is as obsessed about op sec as some of us.
One of my favorite sites that had awesome micro interactions is https://www.indiehackers.com/
I haven’t been there in a while but when i was there frequently, it felt special in the way the founder designer tiny little details and animations.
How about exposing certain fields to people you authorise to see?
Could be your birthdate and other not secret but not public either info.
A similar feat that FB and other networks have for friends etc.
I don't think it solved the hosting but it's part of the overall media issue.
There's no place to host tons of content what videos and live streaming require (mainly a monetary issue).
He comments regularly and directly. Check the copyrights segment: he jumps in after my first one and it's from earlier today.
You can also stitch parts elsewhere which is nice. He does that to my (and many others content) as we all do to each other. You can remix content or fork into a new convo.
I'm still experimenting with the format: www.getairchat.com/petrikaj/
Everything is done asynchronously which has a lot of benefits. You can take your time on pondering and putting together your answer before posting it.
But the end result sounds like a convo (unless you're doing a monologue).
In case the parent note is missing:

Rich media hosting is an unsolved issue on nostr - unfortunately.
I have been experimenting with a new form of podcasting.
Here’s an example of a convo from earlier today (it’s was an early morning as you can hear from my voice 😁)

The dominate narrative is that LLM’s & the new GPT AI models we’re seeing were only for big companies. But this leaked memo from google shows that it’s not true. The bazaar of hackers around the world are out innovating the big tech.
As excited as we all are about Nostr, we need to think about what nostr + decentralized AI looks like… I feel both nostr and the ai space could occupy all of my time just keeping up with what’s happening.

That's a good point. Combining nostr (with payments) and open-source AI open up an entirely new universe of possibilities.
(What's the third angle since there needs to be always three things merging 😁)
Sorry - my bad. There's an instance that allows to see the content without a login. I posted it earlier but cannot find it now.
I don't think we need to be too worried about Bing Chat taking over the world or even the revenue model of OpenAI's Plus subs

I always hated that on Twitter. You have a web-link to a tweet and you cannot paste it on the search box and it does not render the tweet status out of it.
The initial ink is from the app’s “share” feature.
