Since the end of May until today, a counteroffensive operation of the AFU has been taking place on the northern and southern flanks of Bakhmut. The initial goal was to eliminate the threat of encirclement to the group of Ukrainian forces defending Bakhmut. This operation was successful, and all key supply roads were unblocked. The attempt at encirclement ended in failure for the Russian forces.

Also, recently the 3rd Assault Brigade reported the liberation of the village of Andriivka, which is also located on the south of Bakhmut direction, indicating that Ukrainian forces are advancing along the Klyshchiivka-Andriivka axis. This is certainly good news.

Currently, the advance on the flanks aims to cut off the supply routes near the city, forcing Russian forces to withdraw from the Bakhmut which has become the center of one of the largest battles of the 21st century. Klishchiivka was occupied in January 2023, while Andriivka was lost in December 2022. After 10 months, both settlements are back under control, and further Ukrainian advances south of Bakhmut put at least some of the supply routes at risk.

Klishchiivka has been liberated by Ukrainian forces!
