Wouldn't note to self require access to nsec to recover? Broadcast note requires only nip05, priv key, and any password on the key.

I'm thinking of this as a potential disaster recovery tool. Or as a way to get data past a border check in an escaping a warzone type scenario. So you would want to minimize required items to access data.

I just had an idea. PGP encrypted data posted as a note to nostr as a way to create a geographically distributed backup of secured text. Good or bad idea, what does the hive mind think?

Nostr also seems like a great way to share public keys with some level of identity verification now that I'm thinking in that direction.

Hear me out: A Nostr Service where you can send leaked private keys to:

1. delete everything from those keys everywhere

2. watch for new posts from those keys and delete them as well, forever.

The main idea is to block attackers from using your keys.

The second idea is to let everyone know that their info can indeed be deleted at any time if a person gets your key. If you are using relays that accept deletion events, your Nostr content can be purged from existence.

Have your backups. Don't think relays will be there for you when this happens.

Thankfully got them setup pretty quickly using the SQLite duplicate database feature to an NFS-mounted NAS over TailScale, but was a terrifying realization nonetheless.

Pruned node is perfectly fine. Having a full node on external drive is fine too. Spreading copies of the timechain isn’t encouraged… #[2]​ may have a better say than this…

# Cashu over Nostr

There are two Cashu wallets with nostr capabilities right now: Nutshell (CLI, for pros) and Nutstash (beginner-friendly web wallet).

## How does it work?

In Cashu, you exchange ecash tokens (represented as a long random-looking string) denominated in Satoshis that you can redeem on Lightning with the help of a mint (the custodian).

You can send these tokens directly (and privately!) to another user's nostr pubkey (or nip05 like mine: calle@cashu.me). The tokens then show up in the receivers nostr DMs. When the receiver uses one of the above wallets, the wallets automatically scan your DM inbox for incoming tokens. When a token is received, it is automatically redeemed into your wallet.

That's it! Encrypted DMs on an uncensorable social network paired with an untraceable privacy layer for custodial Bitcoin wallets. It's a perfect match 💜
