Less need for the overseer to give a shit.
Heard that same thing about every single new social media.
I started reading it with issue #1. Wish I had kept those early ones. I remember them stacked in my basement.
Happy Petrov day.
Also, #Damus is no comparison to #Amethyst nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z .
Just like iOS overall is a joke compared to Android. I am not partisan, I use both for many years in parallel for various reasons, it is a fact. If you, iPhone users, allowed yourself a thought that it is not important what shape the buttons are, and tried Android seriously, you would never go back. Unless, of course, you use it only for what gov. wants you to use it for while being dumb: gmail, cnn, whatsapp, apple music. Then you would see no difference except the shapes of the buttons, except, even then, keybords are not even close with gboard or numerous open source ones being absolute winners.
I find these debates silly. I will say there is nothing about Android that makes it better than iOS. In general you will find apps you wish you had on Android but very rarely the other way around. Apple has some core tech that Android can’t touch. Examples would be shortcuts, iMessage, notes, encryption, reminders, Siri (yes Siri), consistent ui and many others.
What does overthrowing the established reign mean ? More users? More posts?
He always makes me think and I like that.
The more I listen to this kind of commentary the more I am convinced that the press is clueless. https://share.snipd.com/episode/c8edc841-25d0-4e02-8527-c26d6dfa3522
We all know that's not what she's actually proposing. These kind of posts are just spam on the nostr Network.
I did some investigation and I guess it’s based on a couple of nips that aren’t quite ironed out yet. I hope this stuff gets implemented elegantly inside of nostr some day because I much prefer a Reddit type interaction to the endless free flow of Twitter.
What are communities in the #nostr #amethys app? I don't see any other client that implements this. I assume it's something other than filtering for a hashtag?
Most people that have achieved this "personal relationship with God" have had years of brainwashing to achieve it. You're just going to have to put in the time.
This guy gets it.
> The only way to defend free speech is to nuke the idea of benevolent censorship from orbit. Nobody has a monopoly on the truth, nobody can discern "misinformation" from truth consistently or without bias, and nobody can define "hate speech" in universally acceptable terms that don't recall blasphemy laws of centuries past. The alternative, betting on more speech to counter bad speech, isn't a guaranteed win every time, but it's by far the best option we've found so far.”

Yup I agree. I think this whole control over speech that all these systems try to implement is worthless. I had hoped Mastodon would be an improvement but I realized in practice it just further fragments the speech censorship.
And they will spend years litigating this nonsense, and in the end, regardless of outcome, they won’t have made a dent in the problem. A whole bunch of lawyers will make lots of money along the way, and politicians will make many speeches about the subject.
