The challenge of getting people to immediately see the value is that it’s not really valuable on your first day. The value of portability increases with usage, when you have more invested.

Publishing indiscriminately to *all known relays* is making some pretty bold assumptions about the importance of your message and the audience you intend to reach.

Great analogy. Same thing has been dawning on me lately, USD is not going away in our lifetime. USD backed by BTC makes the most logical sense for how things play out. People need to realize you can still win without the destruction of the other system.

Don’t concern yourself with spamming relays to maximize reach. If your message has resonance, it will travel.
nostr is signed json. We have not even begun to scratch the surface of different ways to broadcast and subscribe to messages.
Personally I think websockets kinda suck but here we are talking. It’s working.
There are so many other patterns and transport protocols.

The most active conversations which take place here have always been around software development and developers. To me that’s what makes this place interesting. Sure Bitcoin and free speech come up a lot, but freedom and hacking have always been compatible.
What we are witnessing is the unbundling of social media and people keep wanting to put it back together. Who cares if Nostr, BlueSky, and Mastadon have different audiences and interests. I’ve been on them, and I don’t even think about them anymore.
There is a visceral difference between creating a cashu token and sending a lightning payment. Being untethered from the network provides an additional layer of freedom.
Opinion on the upcoming nostrdb/damus design where all clients are relays?
Seems there is plenty of room to work around in the transfer/sync layer to balance real time vs eventually consistent based on kind.
