I see no reason to upgrade - simple as that. And on top of that I strongly disagree with playing with OP_RETURN limits as it does not help me personally.
All I want from Bitcoin is to send it, receive it and store it securely and reliably. OP_RETURN does not benefit me personally so I ain’t interested in it.

And… I personally see though “influencers” that are using political correctness and not standing behind any idea because they also have selfish interests that are often very easy to see
