I managed to piss of people on Mastodon by saying I would not talk bad about #Nixon because he did Teo things the Democrats would not do.

He ended the Vietnam war (brining my dad home at the start of his third tour) and he ended the draft because it was discriminatory. (But southern democrat Carter reimposed the system because he said it was the only “fair” way to staff the military in a war)

Had one claim I was wrong, that Johnson had ended the war and Carter had nothing to do with the draft system as it was never ended.

Most just said I was a loser for feeling he had done anything good ever.

I’ve always been told to hold 5%-10% of your wealth in #gold #silver and in the last few years in #bitcoin.

When I set up my employer matched 401k I put 10% into gold/silver fund that mostly held physical metals. Eighteen years later I was with a different employer and the esposa became an independent contractor. So we hired a tax expert who asked for all our info to include retirement accounts.

This was in 2009, and they were very worried that over 30% of my fund value was metals.

When I showed them that was because that portion of the fund had not lost much it became a larger part of the fund.

They never questioned me again.

The whole #LibertySafe issue is concerning to me for two reasons:
First the person was being investigated for a non gun crime the warrant listed the safe and guns in it to be searched for evidence of having been involved with the trespass. Seems very beyond the crime.
Second: why does a safe company have backdoor access to your safe that they did not tell you about and that they keep the codes in an online (hackable) database?
I’m glad I know now. Got to find a safe that does not.

It is “bad” when the child is not working directly for the family.

Most states exempt child labor from family farms and retail businesses.

Acting has rules, requiring a parent to be present and limiting the number of hours “on set” and requiring certain amount of daily schooling.
