The division on fedi and the fediblock wall are both bad things imo.

The twitter refugees that went to mastodon and gave up likely never even tried soapbox or the good mobile apps. Search Engine Optimization for the fedi has been fucked since the media blitz of 2017. Also the walled garden instances joinmastodon.com funneled them into probably didnt tell them about soapbox on purpose.

Also, a lot of the people here came from twitter and in many ways nostr is more similar to it than the fedi is. We can't really compare instances to relays because there's no real loyalty to them here. People publish to as many as they know about and (hopefully) pull down posts from just a few. Whereas on fedi people identify with their instance and the instances close to them and communities form. Communities on Nostr are more like twitter. Just like minded posters in a giant public pool with no clear boundary. I'm not sure nostr will ever replicate what the fedi has, and I think thats ok

I haven't used it. Why is it better? Does it have zaps or equivalent? Seems to me this is the game changer, as it allows value4value and thus clearly differentiates signal from noise. The immutability is great too. To you, what is Mastodon's advantage?

It is a gift. Most countries you can gift crypto and have no tax penalty. Example $16,000 on USA of crypto gifted is exempt.

Mastodon is kind of horrible and has no features compared to Nostr.

This is where Anthony was right. I’m not here to teach you. You don’t have to believe me or trust me. I’ve said enough. If it sparks your interest the resources are there for you. Yes, when denominated in fiat the “price” will continue to rise for many many years until we reach dollar sat parody and even then it may still go. Bitcoin is scarce, it is pure, it is the opposite of fiat. Education efforts will help the disenfranchised finally get included in the global economy, fiat grifters will continue to get rekt and be proven wrong. There will only ever be less and less bitcoin available, more and more people that won’t sell their core position, more wallets coming online, more knowledge and less fear in the space overall. Fight it if you want, the choice is yours.

If you bought the ATH and didn’t have the intent to hold the asset for more than a few years you will get rekt along with everyone else that has a high time preference. If you look more into bitcoin you will see it’s the only true money that’s ever existed. All other money was able to be weaponized by the issuer to ensure an unfair advantage in the exchange. Always. Bitcoin is still in its infancy, plenty of businesses will come around to accept it, but regardless, saving in bitcoin will allow you to preserve your purchasing power while fiat currencies fail one by one due to central bank mismanagement and govt greed.

The gamble is trusting a few men in a room to decide the price of all things and going to bed with dollars in your bank account, assuming they will still be worth a dollar tomorrow. Bitcoin only seems volatile because it’s being valued against those currencies.

Read up and study some more and you will come to the conclusion that bitcoin is all that matters if we ever want to see true human flourishing. Or maybe you won’t come to that conclusion and you’ll be like the frog in the pot of water that doesn’t move as the temperature slowly rises to boil him to death. The choice is yours.
